Graham13 Posted June 1, 2007 Posted June 1, 2007 Hi I live in the UK and I'm planning for my future retirement in Thailand. I'm visiting Thailand soon and I'm planning on getting a Thai friend to buy some land then lease it back to me for 30 years. My question is will Thai Law still allow the land to be leased to me even though I'm will not be living in Thailand? Any other advice or experience of leasing land would be much appreciated. Regards Graham
ProThaiExpat Posted June 2, 2007 Posted June 2, 2007 Your continuous presence in Thailand, once you have signed the lease documents and recorded them with the land office, is not required however, there are many stories out there about Thais encroaching on adjoining land, so it would be a good idea to have someone check on the leased property occasionally and report to you on its status. If it is farm land, there are some laws regarding not utilizing farm land for long periods and thereby losing it through confiscation.
