BANGKOK (NNT) - The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) aims to invite world-renowned artists such as Thai-born K-pop singer Lalisa “Lisa” Manoban and Italian opera singer Andrea Bocelli to perform at Phuket’s countdown celebration event this year.

To mark the country’s grand reopening, TAT governor Yuthasak Supasorn said this plan is still pending and requires further consideration as the project needs additional budget approval from the government and partial support from the private sector. He said the move is hoped to promote the province as a world-class destination.

Mr. Yuthasak pointed out that an appearance by world-renowned artists could draw tourists from around the world to Phuket, especially Blackpink fans and admirers, so-called “Blinks.”

Mr Yuthasak said Phuket might be the destination for the countdown event as the government has already created a plan to establish the Andaman island as a "World Class Destination," which was approved by the Centre for Economic Situation Administration (CESA) earlier this month.

He's looking forwards to his Pre-travel PCR test, Booking his SHA+ hotel, Securing Covid-19 insurance and applying for his Certificate of Entry... and then the possibility of being forced into a hospital room to quarantine if he tests positive for Covid-19 !!!!!  ????

The CESA must be scathing that the rest of the world is not getting on board with this world class destination idea !!!....

World Class means no taxi / jet ski mafia, no double charging in hospitals, no police harassment or shakedowns...

Phuket and other area’s of Thailand really do have the potential, sadly, its so disappointing for many of us to witness Thailands repeated failure, it's as if those making the announcements believe the mere announcements alone make it happen.

Can they also employ  "body doubles"  to avoid having their brains tickled with a swab ? ????

I'm sure Lisa will have more important and interesting things to do, maybe if they had some Buri Ram meatballs though? ????

There's a world of difference between inviting someone and the invitation being accepted.

You don't simply 'invite' these people, you pay them a huge fee for a performance.

I'm sure theres a lot on here right now searching "where to buy tickets"................................

The swab does not go near the brain, or the pineal gland. It's a nasal swab. To think otherwise is to be a victim, a fearful victim, of foolish, online propaganda.

I would think that if she is planning on working at the time she would already be booked.

Probably Cha cha, Health minister and Tourism minister should wear something sexy and sing for us.

This should attract at least a few thousands spectators.

Thais will love Lisa, not so sure about the rest of the world leaping hurdles to get here.

As for Andrea Bochelli I'm sure he has better invites than Phuket.

So they aren't scheduled to attend, they will be invited. But they haven't been invited, the TAT is just aiming to invite them. But the plan to aim to invite them isn't set, it's still pending. And the plan isn't definite, it requires further consideration. So it's basically a sure thing.

Time to say goodbye to TAT

You need to lay off the swabs...

This reminds me of the ( Not The Nine O'clock News) joke about  Colonel  Gaddafi being shot in the head..doctors say he will make a full recovery as the bullet missed his brain by 12 inches ????

I get a feeling they will both be unable to attend due to being busy on that day, sorry.

Funny enough a guy in my local bar in Naklua, a covid denier from England, who talked about the swab being used to 'infect the pineal gland' and 'covid is just a mild flu' has since contracted debilitating covid since returning to England. He believed the FB lies and anti vax propaganda! He doesn't now!

Her "Lalisa" video has over 270 million views and she's performed on The Tonight Show in the US, so I'd say she's fairly well known outside of Thailand.
