Previously, Tourism and Sports Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn had announced that the ministry would request a special budget of over 100 million baht to have Lisa and Andrea Bocelli appear at Thailand’s New Year countdowns.

Must be devastating news for Phipat, Lisa cannot attend as she was booked long before he got the idea.

I wonder what will happen when Andrea says he can't attend as he having his hair done.

thank <deleted> for that ....  we just saved 100m ....   !!     build that casino  !

are you sure about saving the 100m. I'm sure they'll still find a way to justify receiving the money and then line their own pockets with it.

And this is essentially what I meant. Fake artists like Lisa are just puppets in the hands of their bosses. They are created from nothing and can be sent back to obscurity any moment. You could never do that with the real talents.

So your saying she and her group are fake, like Milli Vanilli...I think not. Were The Monkees Fake, or the Backstreet boys?

Maybe she couldn't handle having to count backwards from 10 to zero.

"Like, it's hard enough the other way..."

She speaks 5 languages so I doubt that would have been a problem. For one million baht they could get a decent Thai line up, looks like it's a blind opera singer for 50 million then ????

Maybe he thinks the record 73.6 million views in 24 hours of her recent single were 'fake' You don't train for over 4 years day in day out and then become a 'fake' act.

May have been better to have got a budget after a full justification, and then see who is available, these “stars” don’t just wait for Thailand to come calling, how about just open up that will please people more than big bucks on a person many will never have heard of, Andrea Bocelli  i fear may not be the draw some are thinking, How about a stonking  world class firework show, fired from the bay, make it an annual event and hope it dosn’t  rain!!, i can organize  it always did one for the kids at home, but money upfront please

Thats what happens when top officials brag about an appearance by Buriram native Lisa, as if they thought wishful thinking would make it come true. Serves them right and also no mention yet about that opera singing Andrea Bocelli who I'm happy to say I had never heard of anyway.

Now have a little sense before you start spurting out more misinformation.

Certainly a real slap in the Face for the Junta...... However you look at the Entertainers decline.

How to book an international star for an event:

1. Discreetly contact her agency and inquire about her availability

2. If she is available then quietly negotiate her fee

3. If she is not available or the price is too high(I tend to believe this is the real reason) then the public never learns and no one in charge “loses face”.

I cannot imagine YG Entertainment(Lisa’s agency) would have agreed to her appearing unless the fee was worth their time.  Members of her group, BlackPink, have millions of dollars in endorsement deals with many international companies(next time you buy a can of Pepsi just look who might be on it).

I would classify this as a failure in Business 101.

How funny.  You would think they would have checked her availability before announcing it.

More than that, as other people in this thread have said, they shouldn't have announced anything until the deal was done and contract signed.

It's ironic that in a society where face is apparently so important, that people are so willing to make fools of themselves in public like this, time and time again, having an "idea" and announcing it as a plan before even the most basic of feasibility studies have been carried out!

As you said, big loss of face for the government.

The only people attending would be the elitist crowd spend the money on those who cannot afford to feed themselves or there children .spending all that money for a few hours gratification is totally absurd

This may not be a Business failure, but some kind of " personal issue " from the lady herself

Its not unknown.

Yes, I think they are fake artists fully controlled by their owners. I know the times have changed but, in the past, it usually worked like this: a talented artist starts to create his music then gets noticed by the producers and so on…

Here we have the artists and the groups created by the producers from the scratch. From absolutely nothing. Their biggest talent is to be slave-like obedient dolls doing only what is allowed. Music? Come on, what this circus with animals has to do with the greatest form of art called music?

Ok , I know the times have changed…

I think they said they would walk 5 hundred miles and 5 hundred more...it's a bit longer walk than that from Scotland to Thailand ????

In the song they mention the 500 miles 8 times.

Scotland to Thailand is around 6000 miles.

So you're correct, they would be 2000 miles away.

Ask them twice but stop them before they go too far.

Can't or won't? Likely the latter. She probably despises Prayuth and his oppression as much as 99% of the Thai people do. Lisa say no to Cha Cha. Talk about egg on that smug mug of his.

How about if he sings his resignation song? That would likely be a huge hit. May I suggest some lyrics for his swan song?

I know, I know, I know. I should have reacted when the outbreak happened back in December, and done the right thing by shutting down that area in Samut.

I know. I should have taken the vaccine thing more seriously.

I know, I should have had a more qualified health minister.

I know, my pathological fear of the optics of a lockdown are causing many more cases than need be. Those deaths are on me.

And I know, I should have been more diligent with the borders, I should have cracked down on corrupt immigration officials, and kept my promise to fight corruption, and I should have and could have done better.

People say I should resign now. I know what is what you are thinking. I probably should. It sure would be the right thing to do. But, doing the right thing would be so alien for me. I am not sure I even know how to do that. Give me some time to think about this. OK? I am sure enjoying all this power and money.

“Fake K-pop stars” who are making millions for their agencies.  In the kingdom of K-pop trainees(more like slaves) are signed to a minimum of a 7 year contract where the agency controls everything they do.  The training is brutal and in the end even some of the successful acts leave with pennies on the dollar.  Lisa is a rarity because she is the first foreign born woman who has achieved this kind of success in the K-Pop universe.  This is an incredible accomplishment because  she overcame a lot as a “way goo gin” (Korean word for foreigner) woman.  Even if she was independent doubt Thailand could afford her at this time.
