snoop1130
Dr. Chonlanan Srikaew, a Pheu Thai party MP for Nan province, has been picked as the new party leader, soon after Sompong Amornvivat resigned as the leader of Thailand’s biggest Opposition party, today (Thursday). Chonlanan was also one of the party’s deputy leaders before being the only candidate nominated for the top job and selected. He was also already tipped as a favourite for the job. While insisting that he had not been pressured to quit the post, Sompong said he is now 80 years old and would like someone from the new generation to helm the party. He assured the leadership change will not affect the party’s activities and performance in parliament or in public. Popular Post internationalism
is it continuation of thaksin's pre-election stronger grip? party reformers left in september, they wanted constitutional and monarchy reform. Popular Post Artisi
Appointing Thaksins youngest daughter as "adviser" is a good choice ensuring corruption and underhand dealing is maintained. This young lady topped her final university year after daddy arranged and was given the final exam papers prior to the exam - quite a story at the time, all fully detailed in the Thai press. And the beat goes on. 5

Not bad considering the retiring age is 60. Should be mandatory so the old regime cannot stay in power. 1

internationalism
problem with thailand they gor political leadership well past retirement age. They move from army, police to top political jobs, advisors. Prayuth still lives in a villa within military barracks. He suppose to vacate it years ago. All of nominated senators are retired former army, police and civil servants. General Prem became premier and ruled politics behind curtain all through until his death at 100, including military coup in 2006

Tell me again how many violent coups have taken place since 1932. Take a good look and you'll see that there is the Military and there are political factions including the Thaksin Clan all jockeying for power. That's it in a nutshell. The various branches of the RTA use deadly force at the slightest provocation by protesters and they do it often. That's not "Sleight-of-hand..." that's an iron fist that is usually kept in a velvet glove.
