roman50
Hello All, Looking for guide lines and consul about travel from US to Thailand and back for Thai national with dual nationality - two passports. Thai wife just received her US passport, new naturalized citizen. Also has Thai passport. Would like to visit family in Thailand for 6 weeks. Somewhere read, upon leaving US need to use US passport?? Staying more than 30 days? Thanks
gamb00ler
When leaving US you need only show your passport as identification at the airline counter and at TSA security checkpoints. The appropriate passport will also establish your eligibility to enter the destination country in the eyes of the airline. There is no equivalent of the Thailand Passport Control as you leave USA. Your passports will not be stamped when departing USA. Edited October 28, 2021 by gamb00ler
ubonjoe
Your wife will show her US passport to the airline to prove she is legally in the US and her Thai passport to prove she does not need a visa to enter Thailand. Then when entering Thailand she will use her passport. She never let Thai immigration see her US passport. Then when she leaves Thailand she will show Thai passport and US passport to prove she does not need a visa for the US to the airline. The she will Thai passport to immigration. She will not let immigration see her US passport.
roman50
thanks for the replies, seems I remember getting a stamp in passport, by immigration both ways, when leaving a country.

Not in the US. For US citizens they do not do a entry stamp (I have not gotten one since the early 90's). And since there is no departure immigration procedure there is no stamp. kokesaat
If wife is here on a Thai passport but in the US on a US passport, how does one go about making a round trip airline reservation? The name is the same, but the passport would be different. Is it possible to book round trip under these circumstances?

She can get the round trip tickets using her US passport number or possibley her Thai passport. She would show both passports when checking in to prove she does not need a visa to enter Thailand. When arriving here she would just show her Thai passport for entry. On departure from here she would show both passports to prove she does not a need a visa for the US. And then only her Thai passport for departure from the country.
