Same, Same But Different

Recommended Posts

I will be coming to live in Thailand sometime this year. I will have a TG stay with me. We have talked and

she wants to drive what ever we get. I don't think she has a driver license.

My question is what happens to her if stopped, and what happens to me if I own the vehicle ?

Thanks,

whittler

seems to me you may have bigger questions if your unaware as to weather or not she has a licence ,

as to repercussions , does the expression up <deleted> creek without a paddle help ??

My ex girlfriend picked me up at Bangkok airport once and we drove to the family home near Hua Hin. After the weekend we drove to our place in Pattaya and were to keep the truck for the remainder of the month until her sister returned (it was her truck). I found out that she had no license and when questioned, she said that it would be taken care of if she had an accident and if she was stopped, it would cost a little bit of cash.

I told her that this bullshit advice she certainly got from someone else didn't wash and she would likely end up in the shit. She still refused to believe me though. The same as all Thais, they think they know but they know bugger all. Sure, she knows someone, who knew someone, who knew someone who ran down the president's son and got off with it. Therefore it is true.

Wittler,

Exactly! What do you think they would do to you if an Obvious Uninsured driver (& you can't insure an operator without a license) has a wreck & kills someone. I think they just changed the minimum death payout for a Thai person to 100,000 baht on the spot. Since most banks you can only draw at an ATM max of 40,000 baht , I think your arse would be in deep <deleted>.

What would they do in your country.........MMMMM accidental death caused by an unlicensed driver with no insurance In the U.S. minimum 3 year’s manslaughter. For God sakes man no offense meant.

Grow some balls & tell her you would be glad to have her drive (although if you lived here & had a Thai girl with little driving experience I do not think you would even want to be with her as she careens into the nearest bus & takes you out along with anyone else) if she gets her license before you let her drive Jack sht! Cause it's all fun & games when its your dime here. Think with your head upstairs not downstairs!

You already answered your question. Be wise. If you got any doubts do without (not the girl just the poor judgment.) Hate to see you on channel 28 in Pattaya never looks good to see other Expats or visitors at the police station with the Thai's pointing a finger at you. As their thinking TING TONG BAH (You are***

Crazy.) On a lighter side I hope you have an awesome trip here Thailand Rocks!!!!

The Thai Licenece is a piece of p1ss mate... and it only cost 105baht for the licence.

Not worth her NOT doing it.

It is a joke though... no wonder so many crap drivers on the roads, they were never taught to drive!!
