All for the convenience of the handicapped! 100 meter ramp looks tiring, says Thai media

At least there is an accessible toilet but I suppose there's no toilet paper, no soap and no towels as is usual.

  • I appreciate that they have concerns for handicapped people, however, wouldn't it have been simpler and cheaper to just build a new toilet on the ground floor?

  • It would be "too late" ,if you were handicapped and in a hurry to get to the toilet..... regards worgeordie

  • First thoughts are your way , but maybe the drainage would become a problem if the toilet was located at ground level . However the cost involved with the ramp would outweigh the cost of a sewer pump

Those can be bought at the small shop back on the lower area!

Might that be because many disabled locals cannot afford a chair, or are kept at home due to  stigma attached to disabilities?

Pavements for wheelchairs not much suitable either.

This would be a horrible country to be a wheel chair user, the facilities ( or lack thereof ) are shocking!

This would explain why you seldom see handicap people in public here.

i believe the contemporary terminology is disabled, that aside, what were they thinking? or maybe they weren't.

That door with the obscured glass looks like a door to a lobby, a lift lobby, maybe?

By the time the elderly would reach the toilet, the trip lost its purpose ????

That's why they put the non-slip matting on the ramps, with the grooves to channel away the water.

Pavements for pedestrians are not even suitable here, never mind a wheelchair.

Pavements are frequently the reason some use wheelchairs.

They call it the bladder trainer ramp

After their long journey to the top of this mountain they will likely find...... A squat toilet.

Take a look at the ramp to enter immigration in Jomtien.... so steep it would take a few guys to pull a wheelchair up.

In the days when you could use poipet border I remember the ramp there looking like 45 degree slope.

The only person i have seen in a wheelchair in Pattaya was a farang.

Spend time in the nearby Mall, Big-CX, particularly on a Sunday. Many from Father Ray's place are in there.

Frequently seen on Soi Yume heading between the foundation and the Big-CX Mall, I often see them on Sunday morning or about lunchtime, as I head that way to and from the Mall myself.

Sad reality is it is very difficult for them with no or dug up pavements and crowded roads.

Hard enough for pedestrians.

How they manage with wheelchairs I cannot begin to imagine.

Isn't it just.... those in wheelchairs are often being helped by lesser disabled youngsters.... a sad sight actually.
