Sinovac not inferior: Anutin

Probably the first thing I have ever agreed with from the mouth of Anutin, albeit that I would amend the statement slightly to: Sinovac has never been proven to be inferior to any other vaccine.

You need a DBC to establish superiority with outcomes as endpoints. It is notable that all of the studies in the media none tell you the design of the trial, its endpoints or the outcomes. Note that hospitalisation is n to a valid endpoint for assessing efficacy across countries as different countries have a different propensity for hospitalising patients. Hospitals and ICUs do little for patients unless they need a respirator.

The mRNA vaccines so far are mainly used in rich countries. As far as I know there is no middle or lower income country which has achieved high vaccination rates using mRNA vaccines.

If there is a wide choice of vaccines and people have choice, distribution probably could be similar to EU:

* between 80-90% choose Pfizer/Biontech

* up to 10% choose Moderna, for some reason doesn't seem to be marketed well there

* probably 5-7% percent choose Janssen, mainly slackers and anti-vaxxers who either can't be bothered to go twice to the clinic, or need faster vaccination process, usually to travel or work.

* a fraction of a percent AZ, chosen mainly by the British patriots residents in EU.

Mr Anutin said that the reason for a fourth booster shot was not because Sinovac is somehow inferior to other vaccines.

But rather was needed in order to meet entry requirements for Switzerland.

Meaning the first two were pointless?

Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has said Sinovac is not inferior to other vaccines, adding that all vaccines save lives.

And yet most think it is inferior, why would that be A-Nut-in ?, and what qualifications do have in health and science to deny that it is not inferior ?

One would like to think that international scientific peer-reviewed consensus and recommendations from (presumably an uncorruptable?) WHO to its member states would have every country on exactly the same page with regard to vaccination requirements and their efficacy - or lack thereof. That this is not the case reeks of political interference and incompetence with policy driving the science rather than science driving policy.

Thank god somebody takes the trouble to check their facts before posting. So much rubbish on this forum with unsubstantiated claims, wild allegations and just general bs. Every day, same old same old.

There is a constant change, and the Internet has changed a lot in the last 30 years. Back in the late eighties and early nineties mainly universities were allowed to connect to the Internet, and the discussions in the news groups/IRC were of pretty high quality. Now everyone can dump any garbage.

This has since been updated to 50 countries now accepting Sinovac for travel however since the article was published, the UK, Australia and others have joined the list.

I guess the authors forgot to check with the experts on TV first LMAO!

Yes and Australia has just approved as well.  But you cant really blame the deniers really,  anti China propaganda is pretty powerful.

“Anti-China” and “propaganda” should never be used in the same sentence, IMO.

These are mutually exclusive terms.

The vast majority of Thais don't give a rat which vaccine is approved by which country. Thailand is not known as a major source of outbound tourists. They just want to get vaccinated and go on with their lives. It would be great if they can just enter a clinic and choose from a list of 5-6 different vaccines, but this is only available in some (not most) rich countries.

It would appear the scientists in Switzerland differ on the matter.

Sure, but they're scientist. What do they know about construction?

Actually, for that matter, what does Anutin know about construction?

Anutin is dancing to the CCP's music score, of course it wouldn't have anything to do with the Chinese gifting Thailand 'Sinovac' vacine...

Or the US gifting Pfizer and Moderna, or Australia, Japan and Korea gifting AstraZaneca. And Germany and Belgium if memory serves. ????

He might however find it difficult to even book a hotel room in Geneva without a Swiss Covid certificate (besides not being allowed in any other place), so he would have to sleep on the couch in the Embassy of Thailand in Bern.

Sleeping on the couch?? Impossible, hmmm ..... because of the damage to the couch (look at the black coloured hairs .....)

Once again. Countries go their own way.

If the WHO approved it, why do countries not? If Sinbad and sinopharm are good enough for entry into Switzerland, why was he refused and why can't anyone get a covid cert?

It reminds me of aviation regulations. All driven by a UN body, but everyone has their own ideas and none are compatible or accepted without 'special conditions'.

Ridiculous.

According to the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health, people who have been vaccinated with either Sinovac and Sinopharm can enter the country. However, they are unable to apply for a Swiss COVID certificate.

Have no idea what this above is supposed to mean for actual travelers???

Clear as mud!
