Okay, but if applied to a situation where someone returns to their own home, are they requiring them to just sit tight there at home for the rest of the day or night until the test results come in? If so, again it seems like a small thing to get up in arms about.

If a one-day quarantine is the only ugly spot on being able to go out of Thailand and then come back in, that's not so bad... I mean, anyone is going to come in and  then check into a hotel anyway. Is it really such a big deal to have to chill in your hotel room for a few hours before being able to resume normal activity?

except you have to pay 4000 baht for a one night stay

dont think it matters one way or the other for a night in a hotel,( there not all overpriced)  its the pre departure covid test and one on arrival + insurance that is costly.

All of which fall under the convenient pretense of using COVID as the perfect conduit to pursue the usual racketeering practices, as is being witnessed the world over.
