Apsara Authority, in cooperation with the private sector, held a religious ceremony yesterday to restore three Buddha statues at Bakan of Angkor Wat. Yit Chandaroath, Deputy Director-General of Apsara Authority said that the three Buddha statues in Bakan of Angkor Wat were damaged due to wear and tear, leaked water and bat urination.

He added the damaged and decaying Buddha statues were restored after the Authority received financial support from Madam Sieng Chanheng,

The president of Heng Development Company. In addition to the Buddha statues, he said they will also restore some window frames, and other artifacts in the area of Bakan, which is scheduled to take about five months to complete.

Bakan is a sacred place for Khmer people who go there to worship when they arrive at Angkor Wat.
