BANGKOK, Nov 24 (TNA) – Miss Universe Thailand 2021 Anchilee Scott-Kemmis was accused of violating the Flag Act for a poster showing her standing on a picture resembling the Thai national flag.

 

Sonthiya Sawasdee, former advisor to the House committee on laws, justice and human rights, filed the accusation with the Metropolitan Police Bureau. He asked police to charge her with abusing the Thai flag in violation of Sections 53 and 54 of the Flag Act, Section 118 of the Criminal Code and an announcement of the Prime Minister’s Office in 2020.

Not a flag obviously but a long banner with flag colors.  Looks very artistic and patriotic to me.   One more flush by government.  

Where was the photo taken? If it was not in Thailand are we entering the realms of Thai people being charged with violating Thai laws even if they were not in Thailand when they allegedly violated a Thai law? 

She needs to horsewhipped and then dragged through the streets in chains for this heinous crime.

Or alternatively made to ride naked through the streets on a white horse.

I find it highly unlikely that this photoshoot setup was anything to do with the model.

 

Who arranged it?

 

Who decorated the place?

 

It's not the model who's at fault, she was likely just doing her job under penalty of an instant firing, so who was in charge at this 'event'?

I'm fairly sure she was photographed against a green screen and the stylised background of flag colours and Bangkok skyline added afterwards. She may very well have been totally unaware of what the final photo would look like.

 

No doubt the press photos for the other competitors will follow a similar format.

It is like when the US gave out footballs which were emblazoned with National flags. One was the flag of Saudi Arabia, which has script from the Quran on it, hence the USA was insulting Islam..... people looking for reasons to find fault.. pathetic. Blame the carpet makers.

Ms. Scott-Kemmis has taken some heat for being "plus-sized", clearly a different meaning here where any woman slightly above anorexic is deemed "plus size"?

 

She also comes across as "modern", which is scary for thai men.

 

Anyone viewed as modern is viewed as a threat to the status quo. And Sonthiya is the defender of the minions and dinosaurs. He's filed dozens of police complaints over the years.

 

Why a private citizen is allowed to file a criminal complaint is beyond me. Leftover remnants of a neolithic "legal" system (Three Seals, 1805).

It is the way of the world these days. Lots of Americans(and others) violate all sorts of laws even though they aren't in America. Mostly drug lords and suspected terrorists but plenty of what we'd think of as regular ole degenerate folks.

It's not a flag she is standing on. A flag is a piece of fabric, usually square or quadrilateral, colourful and full of symbolism. 

We used to call Trooping the Colour tramping the rag....we being some of Her Majesty's forces not being part of the Household Division.
