webfact
By Natcha Patanasophon An opposition parliamentarian told Thai Enquirer on Thursday that the government’s stimulus schemes are insufficient, despite the Prime Minister’s claim that they are successful in reducing living costs amid the economic downturn. Sirikanya Tansakun, a Member of Parliament for the Move Forward Party who also chairs the House committee on economic development, told Thai Enquirer that the government schemes have failed to ease people’s burdens. “Everyone is affected by the Covid-19 pandemic situation, but people are required to have phones to register to obtain a proper quota.” Full story: https://www.thaienquirer.com/35269/stimulus-package-from-the-government-not-equal-or-enough/ -- © Copyright Thai Enquirer 2021-11-25 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow ASEAN NOW on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates
hotchilli
I watched two teacher friends having a great time using the "lets go halves scheme" they were eating out every night as they said it was cheaper than staying home. The real poor couldn't afford the first half to go out!!!!

You cannot register for both the 50/50 and Ying Chai Ying Dai. There were alternative methods to register for the 50/50 and a phone was not necessary to participate. Those without a phone were issued with a card to show the retailer. It is indisputable that the schemes reduce living costs. The 'We Travel Together' scheme had nothing to do with living costs and would be of little interest to those without a phone.

The scheme was a double edged sword, intended to help with living costs and direct trade to the small retailers, larger concerns could not participate. Every government has initiatives that are flawed in one way or another so some sort of shotgun approach is the usual solution, irrespective of what you or I think.
