The geezer's legged it I guess because he couldn't face being banged up here for any length of time. But given he's had 4 years to think about it, and faced with the possibility of never being able to return here, he's no doubt got a top notch legal team who could l'm sure broker some sort of deal that satisfies all parties. He'll probably return the prodigal son, do some bird in a "padded" cell, and it'll all be forgotten about. It's all down to how it's handled. Maybe.

Nup. I like what you say but the reality is he has a filthy rich daddy who has been filling lots and lots of very, very big brown paper bags. Judges, politicians, police have been rewarded handsomely no doubt about it.

it's really obvious they really don't want to bring

him back to Thailand to face justice , even though

he allegedly killed one of their own, ...

Cancelled passports cannot be used.

So what? He's obviously not using his Thai passport.

You can easily buy several passports from various countries for just a few hundred thousand dollars - for all of them.

I can tell you this, after this tip off even if he was in Austria previously then he's almost certainly not there now.

They knew his whereabouts when he was in London, and done nothing, even after being told his address.

All they have to do is suspend or not renew his passport, then they will know exactly where he is when he tries to renew it.

Why would he bother renewing his Thai passport as I am sure he has a few other countries passports, that is why he can travel around and also why he can not be extradited as easily as most people seem to think, in theory he is not Thai.

He could remain in Austria for the rest of his life, if he wanted to. The RTP are not much of a threat to anyone, except maybe Thai street vendors, innocent Burmese on Dark Tao, and the occasional restaurant they decide to extort for serving a beer. They are beyond toothless, and some of the least serious "law enforcement" officers on the planet.

Any extradition request would be ignored, as the only nations who respect this administration are China, North Korea, Cuba and Kazakhstan.

They have no jurisdiction (in Austria or anywhere else) and have to follow the correct procedures.

Well that's sure stating the obvious.

Their jurisdiction extends only as far as their pockets and how much they can stuff into them.

1)   No, they could detain him if they wanted to, they do not have to.

2)  There is no extradition treaty between Thailand and Austria.

3)  Not so simple.

aghh wishful thinking that someone might do the right thing.was he not on  a red notice?

Apparently, he is subject of a Red Notice, yes.

What is "the right thing", legally, that you think wouldn't be done by the Austrian authorities?

If they really want to arrest this man - just do a deal with the Saudis.  He's present at just about every Formula 1 race - next in Saudi on 5 December. God knows who's passport he travels on but with his cash, that's not a problem.
