Cambodia and Laos to create joint border-taskforce

The Lao government has asked Cambodia to create a joint border-taskforce between the two countries in order to exchange information and to strengthen cooperation between the two nations.

In a meeting with Cambodian Defence Minister General Tea Banh yesterday at the Peace Palace, Laotian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence Chansamone Chanyalath asked Gen Banh to create a joint border taskforce to exchange intelligence and to work together to solve border issues between the two countries.

Following the meeting, Gen Banh wrote on his Facebook page, saying: “Following the meeting with minister Chanyalath, the armed forces of both countries have committed to continued close cooperation with each other as good neighbouring countries with the objective of improving relations between the two nations.”
