Thailand’s Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) is appealing for 252 Thais and foreigners, who arrived in Thailand between November 15th and 27th from any of eight African countries affected by Omicron infections, to report to Thai health officials for free RT-PCR tests immediately.

CCSA Spokesman Dr. Taweesin Visanuyothin told the media today (Wednesday) that 255 people flew into Thailand during the period, under the “sandbox” program, but three have already left the country.

Of those remaining, he said that 11 have been tracked down and the rest are yet to be located, adding that the CCSA is appealing to them to report immediately to the authorities, so that they can be tested to make sure they are free of the new coronavirus variant, Omicron.

They should be easy to locate. The wonderful TM30 system surely means that they will have (if non-Thai, of course) reported their whereabouts to Immigration within 24 hours or, if returning to their previous address in Thailand, can be located from the TM30/90-day report records ?  Surely the TM30 system is as foolproof as the wonderful 90-day reporting system ?

Some of course may being staying with lady frends or ladybfs , not everyone is Bloglisted and TM30 are often littered areound

So basically they appealing to 252 people who tested negative on arrival ? Considering it is all over the world basically , shouldn't they be tracing every arrival ?

Botswanna today said their case started with an arrival from Europe. If the WHO change the timeline , all arrivals are about to be tracked down and force tested !

The Bangkok Post online is reporting 307 fugitives on the loose.

Anyone of "African" appearance could be in for a difficult time in the coming days.

Try looking in Phuket as that is where all the action is .....................LOL

More than likely it's already in Thailand.  I hate to say it but it's going to be everywhere, no doubt about it.

Word around the campfire is if you are vaccinated there are hardly any symptoms, if any at all.

This has nothing to do with Thailand and their bizarre governance - they can't stop it.  I can't stop it.  Nobody can stop it.  The only way to stop it is to not leave your country for any reason.  Trade, talking, anything.  And that's just not possible.

As if they will.

The smart "Beamers" will find them.

South Africa is a very popular destination for Thai nations to visit.

TM.30 enforcement was cranked after the Uyghur/Erawan Shrine bombing. Since then, and compounded with the lack of arrivals, I think only those who might need to use Imm. worry about filing these. And even then Imm seems to allow the late or subsequent filing.

Further, the web platform AFAIK, does not allow one to save a new record. (I tried a month ago for some new, first-time visitors.) The mobile app does allow one to save a new record.

Not sure what hotels are doing currently re: TM.30? Maybe batching paper and mailing it to Imm? Or some poor staff member is probably filing thee on their phone.

For most of us, inundated with reporting requirements (TM.6, TM.7, TM.8, TM.30, TM.47 all require an address), it is amusing to see the authorities apparently stumbling about trying to locate a few hundred recent arrivals.

Good luck with that, they will be all over the place by now and I suspect most won't have a clue they are being sought.

Yes - we have had to revert to the mobile app to register people.

Even the big honcho at immigration could not make the computer version work.

Software glitch. Posted twice.

So, all this endless paperwork they are requiring and they have no idea where these people are?

On the travelers expense of course. Reason: Stupid enough to travel under today´s circumstances.

This latest episode of Thai incompetence underlines what a total farce, and scam the SHA+ Scheme, and all the procedures for entry into the Country really are.

How ! In the name of the Almighty, do you manage to not be able to trace 252 People that were forced into a Quarantine of some kind, have undertaken PCR tests, and had to download a Mandatory App to their phone for Track and Trace.

A total Faux Pas by the Authorities that had instigated all these things to keep the people safe.

Of these 252 ( if that is the correct number, as 300 have been quoted elsewhere, plus another 300 or so from other African Nations ), it is highly unlikely that any will volunteer to be placed into Quarantine for 14 Days.

Welcome Omicron

Manifesting their usual almost total incompetence.

Have a look around Nana, they are easy to spot.

Even if they did track them all down and found some with the omicron variant, it would accomplish nothing by placing them into quarantine.  They would've already spread it and/or already recovered from the infection themselves.  The genie is already out of the bottle.  Stop the madness and accept the virus, it's nothing to fear really.

.......

I re-entered Thailand Nov 19, did the test&go in Suvarnabhumi and next day on to CM.

There were at least a couple of apps that were either mentioned in the ThailandPass or in the information material at the test&go hotel. As everything was in Thai, I didn't install anything and nobody asked me anything.

Thailand has shown it cannot integrate data from these QR code apps.

Remember the REAMS of paperwork and online data each arrival submitted??

240 people "cannot be found". They are probably doing nothing or getting self tests. Better self-isolate

with "sniffles" at home than be sent to some mandatory paid quarantine.

Generally, honest people can be found.

Yep, look at the "The Tha...er" site, Phuket quarantines over 100 tourists from Africa.

This makes the case for not making Thailand a holiday destination even stronger.
