Whatever everybody thinks and whatever I write or wrote, I actually have a lot of respect for the moderators.

This is not a job and not done for any financial rewards.

And if you can make friends while moderating, chances are you will make more "ennemies" than friends,...

So who are you and why do you do it?

Are you the maso type,...? :o:D

Been waiting for someone else to respond, but it hasn't happened yet, so perhaps I should get a word in.

Obviously, I cannot speak for anybody other than myself here, so please take any comments I make in that regard.

I offered my services for a couple of reasons: firstly because I felt I had something to offer in terms of my life experience and understanding and secondly because I have some time available, although this is subject to quite some debate with my wife! Perhaps a third reason might be that I wanted to have some small editorial control over the content here. To "keep TV on track" if you will.

There are many avenues available to slag off Thailand, the Thai people and culture etc. or, alternatively, to discuss the Thai sex trade from a consumers' point of view.

I strongly believe that ThaiVisa is one of the very few, if not only "grown up" alternatives available to both discuss current affairs as relate to Thailand for foreign visitors and both Thai and foreign residents here. It is also the only good resource to impart impartial advice both for the visitor and the long-term expat.

In addition to the above, ThaiVisa is, for many contributors, much more than an online discussion forum. It has become something of a community where members feel they know and care for each other, even if they have never met and possibly never will. It is a lifeline for many lonely, culture-shocked non-Thais who might otherwise feel marooned and unable to make their lives here.

In short, I feel ThaiVisa is an important, if not vital resource for many people here and I hope I can help it remain so and, possibly, improve over time.

No selfless martyrdom bullshit, I follow the threads and read the posts anyway. Why not allow my click finger to do some work?

So you're not the maso type but the control type,...

You see what's nice with the "quote" system, a very nice posting of P1P is reduced to one sentence.

And from this one sentence, well,...

Quite a few of us use the facility, I have to say. :o:D

Could you do it Bluecat? ...From the style of your postings I used to think you were a moderator when I was just a newbie with a crap avatar. :o

Sorry, I do not read the posts fast enough.

Hence my late answer.

No, I could not do it.

I'm not the maso type.

I'm not the control type.

And

I'm too open to discussion

I actually like when people do not agree with me.

And I do not care if it makes people angry, farang or Thai.

If of course, the postings are not "too stupid",... :D:D

I do not want to start a new topic.

But,

Are you shy?

Being a moderator and a poster is not possible?

I actually do not think so

Whatever P1P think,... :o:D

And here we have another classic example of false conclusions being reached by out of context, over simplified reading of highly selective quotes. Quotes and statistics can all be used to say whatever you wish.
