HI there,

I awoke this morning to find I had made a horrible mistake, and right now I am a little stressed because I think I might have messed things up for good.

I am trying to work in Thailand, with a friend of mine. I got all the right documents together to be a partner in the business went to singapore from Thailand and obtained a non imm(:o Visa, which last for 90 days. My work permit however has not come through in that 90 days due to a complication which is being ironed out as we speak, My Lawyer told me to go Cambodia to get a re-entry Visa to buy me some time while the work permit is being sorted. I thought this was fine and was due to go this morning. However when I looked at my passport I saw that my non imm(:D visa ran out 3 days ago and I had written the date down wrongly on my calender (my passport has been locked away, and I didn't check it)

now I realise this is my own stupid fault, and I deserve any ridicule I might get. however if someone out there can offer any advice, or put me in the clear as to how I stand, I would be very very grateful. I will call my Lawyer today if I can, but he is - typically - away on Holiday. Any help would be great.

Thanks in Advance,

Otis

1. There is no such thing as a re-entry visa from a foreign Consulate - you need a new visa and to make a new entry.

2. Cambodia to obtain a visa? The last choice of most on this forum I believe.

3. You will need paperwork to obtain such a visa, just as you did before. I assume you have the work permit application receipt?

4. You are required to have photo ID with you at all times - passport is the current definition of that by police. So you might want to keep it closer at hand in the future.

You should exit Thailand from the airport ASAP and pay the required 500 baht a day overstay fine. You must leave - this can not be fixed by your lawyer (who really should have known your permitted to stay date and warned you if you are really paying for service). Hopefully the mark you get in your passport will not prevent a new visa issue (nomally it does not). Don't risk trying to make a land crossing.

IMHO your lawyer should have sent you to Immigration to ask for an extension, based on waiting for

your WP to be processed.

Anyway, that is now academic. As Lopburi says, leave by the airport and pay the overstay.

I would suggest you fly to Malaysia, with you work permit application receipt and job offer letter

and get a new visa.
