kingstonkid
Ubonjoe Can you explain the policy on assisting charities. I am not looking to work fulltime but am looking at going to an orphanage and helping once a week type thing or working with a group like Bangkok Charities.
ubonjoe
Occasional activities to help people is not really working. Only doing it full time is considered as working.
KhunLA
Technically, you'll need a work permit, for any & all, but nobody is going to care with what you have in mind. You can also ask for a 'waiver' in writing, but I personally wouldn't bother.
Pdavies99
Most reputable charities etc, have a good working relationship with the local immigration offices....for example when I had an issue at Pattaya working for a Catholic charity, one of the top guys in white robes went with me to immigration, surprisingly you might think, he was treated most highly respected, we were ushered into the big man's office and I was told only to show his business card if any further issues in the future.

Not 'surprisingly' at all!
BritTim
There have been vague official announcements that casual charity work, that does not deprive a Thai of paid employment, can these days be carried out without a work permit. It remains a little bit of a grey area, but these days I do not think you need to worry.
