Thai authorities searching for six European men who left Koh Chang after testing positive for Covid-19

The acting district chief in Koh Chang in the central east of Thailand said that they are seeking six European men who tested positive for Covid-19 on Tuesday.

 

Charnchai Patacharavarangkul said that he had been informed by a hotel on the holiday island that the men had arrived on Test and Go but left after positive tests at Koh Chang Hospital.

 

Manager reported that they are now believed to have left Koh Chang and headed for Bangkok or Pattaya.

 

There are two French men both aged 32, Polish men aged 65 and 51, a 31 year old Swiss national and a Norwegian aged 38. 

 

Charnchai said he feared that the European men would spread the virus in the Thai capital or the eastern seaboard resort of Pattaya.

But the thousands of people there already with covid are no big deal?  Do they think this is March 2020 with ~100 cases a day and they're going to trace and test all their contacts?  The pretense over foreigners with covid is laughable.

 

I'm genuinely surprised at how I am still genuinely surprised by how the Thai authorities are handling covid!

Seems odd to me that there is a Test & Go hotel in Koh Chang?

 

Where was their test performed Bangkok, a PTT station in Chonburi, the pier, on the boat, on Koh Chang?

 

So they arrived at Suvarnabhumi, made their way via van/car, boat to an island - a journey which probably took what, eight plus hours.

 

They probably gave phone numbers all along the way, could some thai general simply ring their mobile and ask where they are?

 

So, I guess hotels aren't filing TM.30's <SHOCKER>.

And we are to presume that in the absence of similar media attention that the thousands streaming daily across the Myanmar, Malasia, Lao and Cambodia borders are all virus-free.  Regarding the virus the only problem posed to Thailand is from the Farang.

Absurd isn't it. Make theatre of hunting down these folk simply because they fit the 'foreign threat demographic' yet everyone with a scintilla of sense knows this latest variant is rife and rampant. 

 

Did they only open to visitors so that they had convenient scapegoats in place when the inevitable happens?

Or, aware of their status, they are quietly being careful as the majority are when aware of their status. I don't buy this wilfully infecting story - probably just been sold insurance that isn't fit for purpose considering the insane 'lock em all up, ill or not' policy here.  We're most of us capable of not passing on this whether we know of an infection or not.

This is Thailand's fault. This whole test and go program should be shut down. Sandbox is another mishap. 

3 shots and 3 days of quarantine for anyone and everyone arriving.

If they entered Thailand via Test and Go, they were infected outside Thailand.

And , presumably "tested and released" from Bkk . Perhaps these were the follow up day 5 ? tests.

Maybe, Maybe not remember Omicron can infect from day 3 up to 9.  So if they were negative here upon arrival and traveled with someone else who may have been asymptomatic they could have been infected here if this was the day 5 to 6 second test.

First off 2019 & 2020 Thailand was full of Covid but never tested

2021 & 2022 now act like they are the virgin mary being impregnated by covid carrying foreigners

 

Lastly to suggest anyone is spreading a virus that has been like smoke in Thailand for years is Nuts

Story has holes in it like Swiss cheese.  When did they truly arrive in Thailand, were they a group or did they meet up and decide to travel together.  How did they travel from Koh Chang?  so many things that make the story just hard to read and understand.
