It's not open for business.

Looked like a nice place for a young single guy! (Or gal).

The rooms were about as basic as you could get, and it wasn't the best value in KSR. But it was the first hotel I ever stayed in in Thailand, and I stayed there a few more times just for old times sake.

Shame it's no longer open. One of many businesses that have been crushed by the police state.

Unfortunately the pandemic has hurt tourism in every country.

The "remake" of Khao San road was definitely a mistake.

Have you seen it?

Definitely designed by someone in the military.

Stalinistic touches here in there.  Absolute monstrosity!

Yep, the police state ripped the soul out of KSR before Covid.

I haven't been there since the remake. Nothing to go there for now, especially with the Covid gestapo on the prowl.

Well you'll have to stop by on your next visit.

It's all very interesting and the girls are still beautiful!

I heard that only local Thais hang out there now, and it's just a normal road?

It's definitely not what it used to be.

The last time I was there it was pretty dead.

Drinks we're overpriced, I doubt locals would waist their time and money there these days.

Plenty of other places to go in Bangkok and enjoy yourself.

Maybe Im cynical , but do the Police get a cut from the hospital bills ?

Insured foreigners get sent to an overpriced hospital and do the police get a slice ?

IMO they probably do, as does the soldier posing as a PM along with his generals, and also the high ups in the overpriced hospitals.

You can be sure they will all be getting their share. This is Thailand.

I was on Khao San road a week ago Saturday.  The taxi driver dropped us off at a business in the area.  I forget about the testing until it was too late.  When we got to the road there was no one stopping cars to do tests so it wasn't required for me.  We had a few hours to kill so we walked a bit and ate at a restaurant returning around 1930.  Again no one at the entrance administer a test.  There was a testing site set up mid way (ish) down the road and a couple of restaurants had signs up saying you needed to show a test but they were the minority.  We had an hour foot massage and was not asked for a test either.

It was very empty.  Here are a few pictures from that night around 1930.

I should say the pictures aren't of the main party street but it was about the same.

This isn't Khao San, this is Soi Rambuttri.

True, that is why I said that the pictures weren't of the main party street.  The pictures were from where we ate dinner.  But we walked around the area including Khaosan road and we're not asked to take a test.
