All relevant government agencies must work more closely together if the sandbox program is to be successful, a analyst told Thai Enquirer on Tuesday.

The sandbox program was introduced by the government to help increase tourism whereby vaccinated travellers can enter and stay without quarantine in a specific sandbox province.

Krabi, which houses numerous rock-climbing spots, white-sand beaches and islands in southern Thailand, is part of the sandbox program but has so far not been successful according to the local hospitality industry.

"hospitality industry"..i guess they mean "HOSPITAL/HOSPITEL industry!!!

More rules, more restrictions leads to more corruption, results in less tourists.

Now since the newly minted Omicron is dud, time for Thai masters to open up the country and let it grow. Keep testing for foreign tourists but give them chance to enjoy and explore.

Folks are not going to go on holiday, and be dictated of where they have got to stay for 7 days, ie Samui, Krabi, Koh tao,  etc, etc,

Either open the Country or close the borders and become like North Korea...

How long has it been running?

When the sand box and the test an go schemes are all gone, then the tourists will start coming back.

Most real tourists who do not have things like condos, GFs or wives do not want or need and

extra expenses on their holidays.  The present military government will never think like that so

I will wait a bit longer before I go back to enjoy another vacation. I can go many other places

that are tropical and do not have any restrictions. Mexico, Belize, Honduras etc, are a few that come to mind.

Paithoon also said that strong communication strategies are the key to drawing more visitors. International visitors must be made aware of the sandbox program.

That is not the reason that it is failing. Krabi can be extremely beautiful, we get that. Your main issue is that it is TOO DIFFICULT TO GO THERE!!!

People are already fed up being hemmed in for two years. Your country is not nirvana and people will not do anything to go there. You can have all the perfect collaboration in the world but it won’t make a difference. Smarten up, streamline the process, offer free insurance and be transparent.
