webfact
By Tanakorn Sangiam BANGKOK (NNT) - The Thai-Muslim community in the southern region sees employment and economic opportunities after the restoration of diplomatic ties between Thailand and Saudi Arabia. The Thai-Muslim community in Nakhon Si Thammarat responded favorably to the latest development of Thai-Saudi diplomatic relations, as shown in a meeting between the villagers and government representatives. The meeting was joined by Mr. Tawee Prayat, who was deputized by a ministerial assistant at the Office of the Prime Minister. On this occasion, Mr. Tawee presented to the villagers the outcomes of the official visit to Saudi Arabia by Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha. Villagers were said to be delighted with the development, which should make it easier for them to go on their religious pilgrimage to Mecca and Medina. Mr. Tawee said there are several job seekers in the southern region pinning hopes on employment opportunities in Saudi Arabia, as the country was once a top overseas employment destination for people of the Muslim community. -- © Copyright NNT 2022-02-02 - Aetna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Popular Post rudi49jr
Yeah, that’s exactly what we need, more influence of an extreme, hardline and deeply conservative muslim country like Saudi Arabia. MBS can pretend he’s a ‘reformist’ all he wants, but so far he hasn’t convinced me.
kimamey
Is Saudi Arabia the only option? Whilst it might make a difference I would have thought other Muslim countries where there are good relations would be just as important.

connda
I hope the country's leaders understand that they will now experience in influx of radical Wahhabism. And they think they have problems just in three Southern provinces now? Just wait for that to expand country-wide.

Thai government actually assists Thai Muslims to attend Haj. A Thai Muslim is appointed to advise the King, plus Thai Muslims have acheived senior appoitments such as CIC Thai Army and National Police Chief. The deep South is primarily an ethnic conflict, not an Islamist insurgency.
