Just a heads up to anyone who is interested, and there will be some, Stickman has told me that his Sunday Column will be returning this weekend after a long absence.

He's a friend of mine. I once interviewed him for his site, and one Sunday he, unusually, posted a submission from me. Unusually because he never posted submissions on a Sunday but mine was my take on

Thailand has long since changed since the Stickman's days.

Has he actually moved back to Thailand or is he looking for a money ruse?

There is such a flood of info these days from TV and other sources, there is nothing new he could report.

So many Youtuber's and other's financially looking for a way to survive.

You can only see and read the same thing so many times before you realise it is not worth it.

I heard he was broke and desperate for money. Figures.

I enjoyed the interviews he did with Thailand ‘characters’.

As for YouTubers, sorry but I find most of them same, same (and that is not only for YouTuber content about Thailand - it's the same for many other countries.  Get a drone, fly it around with no commentary, just the same music, so easy to do!).

Sometimes stories are better without pictures and videos. I liked reading "contributions", but I wonder is some were made up.

Shhhsh! Wasn't it interesting, though.

You help me to recall stickman, but wasn't he the one who wrote sad bar lady stories, and also did some private investigation for money, where 99,% of the cases had a sad result?

It was mostly about all the sugar traps and broken hearts?

I, like one or two responders above, do wonder what he might have to say. Still not a lot happening around the nightlife and no, he is still not in the country. Sounds like he has a real challenge on his hands so it will be interesting to see what he comes up with. Once things are back in full swing (if they ever are) then I'm sure that what he writes will be interesting.

I used to enjoy his weekly column. It was generally well written and often interesting.

I think he'll find it tough to come up with content seeing as not much is happening here and he's living overseas but I'll probably read it anyway.

I assume this is related to StickBoy's hasty exit stage left. Maybe someone else has stepped in to fund Stickman writing the column again?

You've got it, although the site had far more than that. He in effect replaced the aging Trink and documented the night-life news once a week, but that was only one aspect of the site. There are thousands of reader's own tales, both positive and negative. Some were funny too. Please let me blow my own trumpet and offer you this, which some on another site thought was a true story:

Stick sold the site several years ago and is now an employee. I hadn't realised that Stickboy has gone. Haven't looked at his site for quite a while.

I actually thought it was Stickboy who had bought the Stickman site. Anyway i used to follow the column but it went slightly odd when he moved back to NZ. I recall a couple of articles he wrote on a noise he was having in a new car he had bought - I questioned myself for wasting my time reading that i must admit. Then there was some on his holidays to the south island. I zoned out after that to be honest.

That's right. My understanding was that Stickboy was involved in the company that a) purchased the site and b) kept Stickman on as an employee to write the column.

Then Stickboy disappears from Bangkok in a puff of smoke and the Stickman column makes a comeback.

Interesting. And where is Stickman now and where will he get the information from?

As far as I know he doesn't live in Thailand since many years. And in the last years of his activity he wrote basically about hearsay what other people told him. He wasn't here to confirm any of this and lots of his writing wasn't accurate.

It would be great to have some up to date information about the nightlife. But it should be really up to date and authentic from someone who lives here and visits lots of places...

I googled Stickman and found the page. Looked briefly at it. As much it saved one or two (have stopped believing people do listen to good advises) it also created Alot of paranoia in people. Best thing is to experience what can go wrong first hand, if you do not have common sense from before.

I'm sure many feel the need for an private eye in these days being stuck abroad.

Sorry, don't get it...

There are a few paragraphs on that website under the heading 'update', dated 1st February 2022, as well as a 'summary' about the website, but the rest is dated 2018 and earlier. - I used to read his column, and a couple readers' submissions quite regularly until he went back to NZ, and I left Thailand for more than two years. I never really cared about Stickboy on FB.

Good to hear.  He's a good alternative to Richard Barrow's rather saccharine musings!

How do you compare between those two? Two different worlds as far I know, and have not read Stickman for at least 14 years or so

"...have not read Stickman for at least 14 years or so".

So how would you be able to compare the two?!

Both are blogs about what's going on in Thailand.  Both good for news, with Stick being excellent for bar news.  Over the years, Stick has done some excellent travel blogs for Thailand, with great photos.  Barrow's writing is a bit bland for me, and he tends to suck up too much to the authorities, although (for me, anyway) it's his connections in "high" places that make him worth reading.

Is "Bangkok Barry" really "Stickman"?   He's doing a lot of PR for him!

That's was my impression, he was more night life related and also Thailands Bar love affair specialist.

I might be wrong, and that's why I wrote as far I know.

Unusually because he never posted submissions on a Sunday but mine was my take on an evening out with Stick in my neighborhood of Udom Suk and he devoted his Sunday column to his take of the evening.

As for doing PR, I just thought that people, former readers, might know his column is returning. If you aren't fine. but there are people who are interested and would find my tip-off useful.

Nice guy.  I ran into him a couple of times - both times in Secrets in Pattaya!

He also used to like a small place called Catz. I went there on his recommendation, and while there bought a girl a tequila. She returned with a glass that had bubbles in it, and it turned out to be Sprite. The girl was too stupid to use water to trick me. But the mamasan sorted it out.

Was there not another column by some guy called Chris based in CM who was an Aussie ?

I could never find that blog again.
