Lazada or Shopee Payments

For years, I was able to shop and pay on Lazada with our US credit card. 
Then, about a month ago, they flagged me as some sort of security risk.
Nothing about our account changed.
(None of my CC companies reported any blocks or issues). 

 

When I complained to Lazada, they asked for detailed passport and CC info.
They fixed it - for one purchase.
I still get flagged with multiple credit cards or ATM Cards.

Now, am back to having to use bank transfers, which are a pain. 

 

Shopee has similar issues. 
Also requires bank transfers.

 

Have tried to sign for Lazada Wallet & Shoppee Pay.
No luck.

 

Anyone out there been able to get through with these?

Do you not have a Thai bank account? Quite easy to Pay on Lazada app via bank transfer. 

 

I know the Lazada Wallet used to be restricted for foreigners and I was always getting refused for that reason, but a few months ago I got accepted. so maybe try applying again.

I use  credit card, COD or Truemoneywallet for Lazada. For Shopee i only use COD, shopeepay proved impossible to set up

All to do with the new anti-fraud measures being implemented by CC companies methinks.

The onus is being put on shops to get verification that it is you using the card.

Through the CC co's sending SMS codes to your phone to complete the payment details.

At least that's how I read the info from the UK.

How nice would it be if they were to implement this in Thailand. None of our credit cards (Thai wife and myself) uses two factor authentication. When I asked I was told "Thais like it simple". Indeed, simple in the correct sense is the right expression here.
