Siam Rath reported on a ghastly double murder in Ubon Ratchathani in the NE of Thailand yesterday afternoon.

It happened in Ban Phuwiang in Phosai district.

Anek (surname withheld and age not reported) used a club to attack his own mother. He then tossed her in a charcoal oven along with the weapon.

He then waited for his father to come home after tending to his buffaloes.

His father was killed with a hoe. He was then tossed into the oven along with his mother.

But the killer was seen fleeing on a motorcycle.

DOPA and plain and uniformed police soon had him in custody in a rubber plantation nearby that he owned.

He was quite calm and unaffected by what he had done.

His urine returned a dark purple test result - indicating drug use.

He was detained ahead of his prosecution.

The media mentioned "luuk Thoraphee" several times. This relates to the story from the Ramakian legend about an ungrateful buffalo who kills his father.

He threw his parents into the oven, who does that?

Someone who hates them and/or wants to get rid of the bodies.

Is it so much better if a murderer dumps the bodies in concrete or at sea or wherever?

He killed them, that is IMHO the important part. How is secondary.

Why is it that we never hear about Thai women committing these kinds of heinous acts?

Did you miss last weeks 'girl kills her granny' story?

And Tangmo killed by her female friends stamping on her hands ..........

The usual story is that the Parents wouldn't give the son 100 Baht to buy some local moonshine and he got angry and killed them

Ewonder if he ever heard of working for a living ?

One of the huge issues here is the princely treatment given to boys. They are nothing special. On any level. Yet, the parents let them get away with nearly anything, and spoil them rotten.

What Thai parents need to start saying to their sons is this: You are nothing special. Your sister is as good as you, or better. She works harder, she is more ambitious and she does not take everything, and everyone for granted. So, until you prove to us, to the family, and to the community that you are special, by your deeds, actions, and hard work, you are not anything but a normal kid. Nothing more.

My guess is there are alot of Thai parents who wonder later, where did I go wrong with my son, and why did he turn out to be so self entitled, so spoiled, so unwilling to put in a hard days work, and how did he become so rotten, and so undeserving of our care and protection?

A lot of it is they're brought up by grandparents while the parents try to make a living in a city somewhere. The Grandparents can't cope but also rely on their children's handouts to live, as 500 Bht/month from the government doesn't go far. Until this changes not a lot else will...

Don't strike up a prison relationship with the one on the right over her 34 year stretch if disemboweling humans isn't your kinda thing.

That English guy who made a movie getting released fighting muay thai in prison did podcasts too.

One of the subjects was about a Thai guy who killed his parents, he was tortured and beaten all the time by fellow Thai prisoners, they seem to really not like that. Justice is served here sometimes.
