While visiting Thailand in April I plan to have a short trip to Vietnam and I will have already obtained a Test & Go approval for entering Thailand. If anyone knows the Test & Go implications of this are under the following two options that would be very helpful. The embassy has not been any help.

Option 1 - I fly out from BKK airport to Vietnam, return to BKK 3 days later and spend 4 days in Thailand before I depart to the USA again

  • Do I need to apply for Test & Go again for when I come back into Thailand from Vietnam for this short trip? I.e. Once when I first enter Thailand and a second time after a short return trip to Vietnam including another PCR test on arrival and prepaid 1 night SHA Extra+ hotel.

Option 2 – I fly from BKK airport to Vietnam and return to BKK 3 days later to connect to another international flight with a different airline and ticket. I.e. I do this at the end of my trip instead of the middle. I have a 5-hour connection between flights that requires me to pass through customs, collect my bags and recheck in with another airline for a flight back to the USA since these are on separate tickets.

  • Do I need to apply for Test & Go again for this connection since I have to pass through customs? Once when I first enter Thailand and a second time for my connection since it will require me to pass through customs, collect my bags and recheck my bags into a different flight through arrivals?
  • If I don’t need to apply for Test and Go again:
    • What documentation do I need to show customs so they don’t ask me for my SHA+ hotel and Test & Go again?
    • Can I still walk around the airport? For example, we are thinking of leaving our luggage in a storage area at the airport before we depart Thailand to Vietnam and collect it when we come back between our connecting flight to the US. Is this even possible?

Thanks
