English signage tax

6,500 baht a year for this one and extra for other signs in English and Thai at the entrance.  99% Thai customers and we have English signs because our stock is English Antiques. 46,000 baht for the land tax , so it's not cheap operating here , but a fraction of what it would cost in the UK with Business Rates.

Do you have to pay for the "open" sign as it's portable?

Local plod tried (half heartedly, he's not stupid and he knows my wife) to charge us for the English "29 Palms" (I'm a Robert Plant fan) on our house name sign.

Recently had the local team visit with tape measures in hand.

I drew the line when one woman entered the premises trying to measure English signs inside.

When challenged she said she can tax them.

She backed down when shown para 8.5 of the Thai version of the attached file.

Can you post the Thai Version then please??

If you disregard the Thai only rate, it's not a bad idea to promote accessibility to the local people

and it's not just English, this applies equally to Russian and Chinese, and I remembered when Pattaya were full of those people on here were complaining that they have signs up everywhere

other 'white' place like Quebec also requires public sign to be in French, is that racist too?
