Central bank assures Thai banking system remains resilient despite S&P downgrade

The Bank of Thailand (BoT) says that the Thai banking system has undergone regular stress tests and remains resilient, with a high level of capital buffers to help it to withstand risks and uncertainties, despite S&P Global Ratings’ downgrading of four of Thailand’s commercial banks.

Thai government raises musical challenge to call centre scammers

Bangkok Airways operates VTL flights from Samui to Singapore facilitating fully vaccinated passengers with no quarantine

Bangkok Airways Public Company Limited has announced that the airline now offers VTL (Vaccinated Travel Lane) flights from Samui to Singapore, to facilitate passengers who are fully vaccinated with no quarantine upon arrival in Singapore.

Japan provides vaccination equipment to assist Thailand’s COVID-19 response and immunization programme

BANGKOK, March 2022 – The Government of Japan, under the ‘Last One Mile Support’ initiative, and in collaboration with UNICEF, is providing high-quality equipment for vaccine storage and transport, worth some 25 million baht (approximately USD 750,000), to support Thailand’s efforts to curb the spread of COVID-19 and ensure that people in remote areas and regions most in need receive quality vaccines.

After over two years without major festivals in Thailand (although some smaller Pattaya music festivals with strict rules like no dancing, seating only, etc… have taken place) due to tough Covid-19 restrictions, endless bar and nightlife closures, restrictions, mandates, and other items that seriously damaged Thailand’s reputation for great nightlife and tourism industry, it looks like some hope “may” be on the horizon.

Dozens of suspected COVID ‘Deltacron’ cases found in Thailand, all recover

In December and January, Thailand detected 73 cases of suspected “Deltacron”, a broad name describing variants of the COVID-19 virus (SARS-CoV-2) that contain a mixture of mutations found in Delta and Omicron, but all the patients have recovered, said Medical Sciences Department Director-General Dr. Supakit Sirilak today (Wednesday).
