lopburi3
Although not a huge percentage the high use of this drug does make it a serious concern per recent report. https://edition.cnn.com/2022/03/28/health/paternal-metformin-use-birth-defects/index.html https://www.science.org/content/article/rare-genital-defects-seen-sons-men-taking-major-diabetes-drug
internationalism
Metformin is responsible for some 9 years above the average life span. That for patients taking it over a longer time. has also anticancer properties
impulse
From the CNN link: ...babies who had paternal metformin exposure also tended to have parents who were older and of a lower socioeconomic status, which may play a role. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out. And whether another Pharma is coming out with a new, safer and more expensive alternate. I luvs me a good wingnut conspiracy theory, following the money. Edit: Or as I call them, "spoiler alerts". bendejo
They prescribed metformin for me at first and I had a terrible reaction, took a week to get over it. Now I'm on glipizide, seems to be holding me together. Every other diabetic I know is on metformin. At 70 I'm not too concerned with causing birth defects . . .
