Why candidate numbering could have a big impact on Thailand’s next general election

Lawmakers amended the Constitution last year to restore the two-ballot system for the next general election — one ballot to vote for constituency MPs and the other to vote for political parties.

However, the Parliament has not yet agreed on whether candidates’ numbers should be the same for constituency MPs and their parties.

Observers expect larger political parties to benefit more from the same numbers for both sets of candidates, as it would be easier for their supporters to remember. Smaller parties, meanwhile, favor different numbers as they believe this would give their constituency candidates a better chance of winning.

How to overcomplicate democratic elections; an easy-to-understand handbook in Thai language, for Thai voters by Thai politicians. Handed out to the Thai electorate with a 500 Baht banknote attached to it; latter is to buy a pair of reading glasses and anyone who thought of buying something else - is despicable ???? as it cannot happen in Thailand ........

An addition to confusion could also be to use letters (44 consonants and 32 vowels, if I am not mistaken) instead of numbers (0 - 9) as there are still hundreds of thousands of Thais who cannot read and write.

What a circus in the making - I'm getting popcorn as it will be showtime anytime soon again ????

I'm sure the system will be tweaked to serve the right outcome.

But...but...but....but are you suggesting there is this misconceived understanding that a new dawn awaits regarding political chivalry?????
