I don't disagree that the U.S. has a lot more gun violence than the UK. That's pretty clear. Where I disagree is the idea that if we just repealed the Second Amendment, everything would suddenly be peaceful. The UK already had a much lower homicide rate before its modern handgun bans and after the 1997 handgun restrictions, murders did not magically disappear. Actually the homicide rate rose for several years and peaked around 2002/03ish before later falling. Today the UK still has murders, but they are just committed mostly with knives, sharp instruments, blunt force, etc. The U.S. also has a very different set of problems than the UK. We have gangs, drug trafficking, millions more people, a huge number of illegal guns already on the streets and a Constitution that protects the right to own firearms. I think it's way too simple to say guns are the only problem. If that were true, every place with strict gun laws would be crime free and they're not. We need to go after violent criminals, gangs, repeat offenders and illegal guns. Taking guns away from law abiding people isn't going to magically fix everything.
