MANILA, Philippines — The chief of the Philippine National Police on Monday pushed back against the US State Department's report claiming that its internal cleansing program was ineffective. 

 

This comes after the US Department of State said that it received “credible reports that members of the security forces committed numerous abuses” in its 2021 Country Report on Human Rights Practices. 

 

While the report acknowledged the internal cleansing program's supposed statistics, it also pointed to a number of incidents of impunity within the police organization, which it said rendered the program "largely ineffective."

At a time the US is attempting to attract and consolidate wider international support for it's NATO assistance to Ukraine it seems there is a tactic implying "shaming" a country by reference to perceived "human rights will do the  job ! Unfortunately such an approach is as likely to repeatedly receive a response not dissimilar to that given by India which basically read as "get your own house in perfect order before instructing others !"

"Whataboutery " is a realistic component of reference in the way of things including  politic !

Pretending otherwise creates a disingenuous and hypocritical position for those who prescribe a "do as I say , not as I do " policy in assumed "righteousness" should not be surprised at rejection in the current movement towards a significant adjustment in geopolitical sway.
