T-shirts for sunny days
H&M, if you have one near you has 100% cotton t-shirts. They are in several big malls in Bangkok. Or you could try Amazon for online delivery. Uniqlo is mainly synthetic clothing which I find too hot and sticky in Thailand's climate. Although they may have some 100% cotton. -

An Asian girl to die for?: Definitely. Definitely one of Brando's more interesting films.
Thailand is dependent on farming to survive. No rice, the country's in a lot of trouble. Life exists everywhere because of farmers, especially in a poor country with mostly imports. Even in America, mechanized means running harvesters and planters. Farms are still run by farmers. -

Detecting water leaks
I had a leak under my house. Started with the pump cycling briefly one night and then became more frequent over a period of months until it was almost constant and we would shut off the pump when not in use. I would recommend to isolate the pump with a stop valve before and after to check if holding pressure, closing individual valves and both together. ( many pumps have a built in non return valve which could allow you pressure loss back to the tank if faulty ).If pump holding pressure then concentrate on the pipework and hardware. As said above, toilets can be a source of leaks if water is draining into the bowl or taps dripping. Check initially for any visible leaks, dry off the shower and check after a few hours for any seeping through the wall. Outside taps or sinks are a likely cause of small leaks. In my case i took several months to search for the leak inside the house but found nothing. Dug up the concrete outside the back door to fit a temporary stop valve just before where the pvc pipe disappeared under the house. The pump held pressure right up to the house but was leaking somewhere after. After convincing myself that the leak was not visible in the house therefore must be under the tiled concrete floor. I did some searching for leak detection but was not convinced that it could detect a small leak under a concrete floor so repiped the whole house externally !! Not a job I would wish on anyone although I did kind of enjoy the project. To the OP: Narrow down where your leak might be. Eliminate the pump first. Eliminate whether outside the house or somewhere inside. I didn’t try any leak detection service but maybe others have tried with success. Good luck. -

What’s the best area in Thailand for expats to settle for long-term living?
Depends a lot on what your interests are. A big consideration for me was to be close to airports for International travel so Bangkok was a no brainer there. Well, you could go to Chiangmai but that usually adds another stop. If you don't travel much that's probably not a deal breaker. If living within Bangkok my considerations was walking distances to supermarkets and BTS/MRT stations. I ended up on upper Sukhumvit 22 which is a short walk or bike to the MRT, BTS, Makro, Foodland, Big C, Lotus, Villa Mart and Gourmet Market. -

T-shirts for sunny days
It sould be noted that from a health point of view, a light T shirt only offers a relatively low SF.......5-15. The advantage of course is this SF is permanent. -

Gee you must speak it well. How do you say “Take the first right after the hardware shop, then keep left at the fork, then go straight for 3.5 kms until you reach a sharp bend then turn right and continue until you hit the second uturn and then turn right at the Kanom jeen restaurant. It is the fourth building on the left” -

An Asian girl to die for?: Definitely. Definitely one of Brando's more interesting films.
Literally everywhere - outside of the Soviet Union, China, Africa and parts of the Middle East - was "better" in the early 70s. Iran and Afghanistan had freedom (sort of), women went to school, had jobs, wore modern fashions and had "tolerance". Turkey had a secular gov't that (sort of) ran things based on what was best for the country - not for the religion. Beirut was the "Paris of the Middle East". European cities (and countries) weren't being flooded with untrained, lawless immigrants and crime. It wasn't all sunshine and "flowers in your hair" of course. There was Vietnam and numerous, mainly communist, insurgencies in Africa and South America. Huge drug problems in America and South America as well as SE Asia. (Remember the infamous "Golden Triangle" ?) Things were changing though. Economies around the world were growing and more people were travelling. Quiet, quaint rural areas started getting large numbers of tourists flashing lots of cash, aided by things like traveller's cheques and credit cards. And the locals in those places started making more money, which naturally attracted more locals, and more tourists, and more locals. And suddenly those quiet, quaint places were "tourist meccas" full of hotels, restaurants, bars, shops and "illicit" activities. Various places tried to crack down on heroin and cocaine production in places like Thailand and Columbia. And the the fundamentalists started pushing their agendas with insurgencies starting up around the world. Remember - the Revolution in Iran was in - 1979 ! 45 years ago now ! But it started long before 1979. Which, coincidentally, was also the same year Russia "invaded" Afghanistan. And that mess started back in 1973(ish). And in 1970, places like (West) Germany and Japan had been subject to 25 years of (mostly) American occupation which fueled their economies - and progress. And South Korea had about 15 years of American "co-operation" by then as well. Meanwhile, places like Thailand, had a large "presence" of Americans in the '70s but they weren't here "for Thailand". Thailand was just a convenient location to prosecute their war in Vietnam and a great "R&R" location for their troops. But change comes to everyone, everywhere, sooner or later. That's progress. Some places will resist change while others will embrace it. And 40 years from now, old white-beards in their hoover-armchairs holotyping on virtual social media devices will complain that places like Pattaya and Phuket have lost the "quaint charm" they had in the "2020s".
