MANILA – Vice President Leni Robredo on Tuesday thanked Ilonggos for giving her a considerable number of votes on the way to her close victory in 2016.

During her “Grand Pasasalamat” rally at La Paz Plaza, Iloilo City, she promised a government that will go directly to the people if she is elected president on May 9.

She said she is more confident now because of the achievements of her six-year term.

Robredo said it is the first time in the history of Philippine politics that presidential and vice-presidential candidates have supporters doing house-to-house campaign, referring to the efforts being done for her and her running mate, Senator Francis Pangilinan.

Why are we working so hard like this? Why can’t we be contented with big rallies? Because this is the kind of governance that we are promising you, a government that will go directly to the people,” Robredo said.

She said that an honest government service, just like what she did for the past six years, and just like her promise to the people in case she becomes the next president, will help uplift the lives of Filipinos.

“I know that we will do as promised because this is the kind of government we want. A government with efficient and honest public servants. A government that will assure that the people’s money is secured and will go to those who are most in need,” she said. (PNA)
