Phuket – Phuket is planning to announce Covid-19 as an endemic disease after Covid -19 new and confirmed cases have continued to decrease in the province.

The Phuket Provincial Public Heath Chief Doctor Kusak Kukiattikoon told The Phuket Express, “The number of Coivd-19 new and confirmed cases has continued to drop for four weeks in a row, despite concerns around an increase after Songkran, the Thai new year. In the past day, only 39 new and confirmed cases of Covid -19 were recorded with no new deaths.”

“More than 60 percent of people in Phuket have been triple vaccinated with a Covid-19 vaccine. However, 52 percent of people in the 608 groups (elderly, have chronic health problems, and pregnant) were triple vaccinated. The 608 group needs to be 60 percent triple vaccinated.

Many countries are treating the disease as endemic now but whilst the WHO still have covid 19 designated as a global pandemic, they don't appear to be stating it's an endemic disease. Covid no longer makes the news in the UK.

To treat is as endemic, all restrictions have to go. No State Of Emergency, no masks, no temperature taking in stores, no signing into stores, restaurants and bars back to normal.

Is Phuket ready for that?

Phuket cannot announce anything.

It will come from the government sources.
