MANILA – Action star Robin Padilla is in the top spot with over 600,000 votes in the May 2022 senatorial race.

 

Based on the partial official tabulation of the Commission on Elections (Comelec), sitting as the National Board of Canvassers (NBOC), Padilla so far got 612,684 votes after counting several certificates of canvass (COCs) from various parts of the country.

 

He is closely followed by broadcaster Raffy Tulfo with 521,381; former Congresswoman Loren Legarda, 492,504; former Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar, 427,025; reelectionist Sherwin Gatchalian, 424,797; former Sorsogon governor Chiz Escudero, 378,428; and former Congress Allan Peter Cayetano, 369,589.

 

Also, in the top twelve are reelectionist Joel Villanueva, 358,260; former senators Jinggoy Estrada, 336,498; JV Ejercito, 332,936; Migz Zubiri, 319,858; and former Vice President Jejomar Binay, 284,124.

 

The figures came from the eight COCs that were canvassed on Tuesday --Abra, Apayao, Baguio, Benguet, Ifugao, Kailangan, Mountain Province and Malabon City.

 

Comelec Commissioner George Garcia said a total of 77 COCs, have so far been canvassed, as of Wednesday afternoon.

 

A total of 173 COCs is expected to be canvassed. (PNA)
