I am travelling to Thailand soon and want to apply for a non-O visa after arrival. Is it best to arrive visa exempt or on a TR?

I think I need to use a visa agent as I'm not sure of my bank account status after 2 years of non use and don't want to transfer 800K into a black hole. I intend to go visit the bank on arrival. I believe the BB branch I opened the account in at Jomtien is now closed. In any case there won't be enough time for the funds to mature.

Can anyone suggest a good via agent in Pattaya or Jomtien?

It might be best to enter with a tourist visa since you need to sort out your bank account.

I only have a week before travel so it may be a bit tight. I probably should have asked if there is any reason not to arrive visa exempt. As far as I know I'd have to send my application to Canberra which may take longer than a week to return. I'm currently in Adelaide. The consulate phone number on their website is not connected.

You can do it with a visa exempt entry and the 30 day extension of it.

Having a account at the bank already should help opening another one if needed.

You old account may still be valid if you had enough funds to pay the service charges for a inactive account.

No problem to use visa exempt entry.

You can obtain 30 day extension.

You need to decide if your going to place 800k in bank or not.

Your posts jump around a bit.

Seems you will go the agent path.

Plenty good ones in Pattaya.

To obtain non O you only require the 800k in bank on day you apply.

The non O gives a 90 day permission of stay.

During that time you can season the funds for 2 months then apply for extension.

As for bank account ...if yours is closed be aware that an agent can assist with new account and then do the rest yourself.

At a guess you will fly Adelaide to Melb then to either Bangkok or Phuket.

Jetstar Will require on onward flight within 30 days, to issue you with boarding pass.

You can buy cheapest onward flight eg BKK to Phnom Penh as a throw away flight or

 Google "onward flight".

There you will find companies that provide a confirmed flight that covers airline requirements for boarding pass. Very cheap.

I’ve recently extended my 30 day visa exempt for an additional 30 days at Samui immigration - very straight forward, but…..went there today to apply for 90 day non o and was met by a lot of confusion and misdirection ‘No can do’ etc. Am I missing something about what or how to ask or apply? I have 800k in bank, blue house book, etc.

Here are the requirements for the visa application.

Perhaps print it out and show it to immigration since it is in Thai and English.

Yes: https://www.immigration.go.th/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/6.FOR-PROVIDING-SUPPORT-TO-OR-BEING-A-DEPENDANT-OF-A-THAI-CITIZEN-SPOUSE-VISA-NON-O.pdf

A list showing all of the categories they will issue is on the immigration website here that you can click on to open the file.
