Siam Rath reported that officers of the Anti-Human Trafficking Police arrested two wealthy business people in Thonburi, western Bangkok yesterday.

Picked up on warrants for human trafficking were Wiraya, 54, and Wachiraporn or Dr Wachi, 37.

They were taken into custody beside the road in Soi Thaksin 4 in Bang Yi Ruea.

They denied everything.

The pair are mega rich individuials with interests in rental properties and many companies including one of Thailand's biggest "moo ping" or pork ball suppliers.

It is alleged that from the start of 2015 they used their name and influence to recruit attractive women to work in Bahrain.

The women thought they were going to be well paid for work in traditional Thai massage but instead were forced into sex slavery.

Recently some escaped and went to the human trafficking police for help.

The father and daughter are now being held in custody as investigations continue.

If proven guilty: I hope they will lose ALL of their wealth. Unfortunately, the rich have a carte blanche here in Thailand, to do what they want... So, don't expect much.

So, this wealthy businessman fathered his daughter when he was 16/17 years old? Or am I misreading something?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not judging... I just see it as strange, or something to be expected from the working or lower classes in Isaan.

Those ladies sold by the Pork meat trader are not 'Halal' and should not be touched...

Not really relevant, but the father is 54 and the daughter is 37?  So he became a father at age 17 and is now a multi-millionaire?  The inside story would be very interesting to hear.

Don't you ever let a chance go by Oh Lord!

Our neighbor's daughter went to work in Bahrain since 2015-ish as "manager for International company" three or four times. With basic "thai international school" education (means "banana") and 2 years of college in Aussie-land (means banana v 2.0).

What I noticed she became really snobbish toward not only thais but farangs. On the bright side - she bought Nissan car, paid for a condo (Life @ Suthisan) and doing pretty well-off in Bangkok between her trips to Bahrain.

My point is: no way that un-experienced young thai woman will get that much dough for doing something in the office. Those who flew to Bahrain knew pretty well that they won't do massage only but obviously some sake-sake and boing-boing instead. Please get things real!

Surely isn't for the "moo ping".

In the old days, when these women were asked how they made their money, they either claimed to be "phone operators" or "hotel receptionists". In other words, when they mentioned either of these jobs one usually would know what their true profession was.

Yeah, he engaged in a lot of "moo pinging" in his teenage years.

Some are so dumb they believe "what happened in Vegas stays in Vegas" i.e. what they did in Bahrain will remain "hidden secret". However doing bonga-bonga for financial benefits (a.k.a. "doing Natasha") will turn attitude and some reactions of "tilack" into un-disputably noticeable "working girl". Heard that from pro.

Unfortunately this is Thailand and they will bribe their way out of trouble with all the Thai officials involved  now joining the queue for a brown envelope.

Anti-Human, Trafficking police?

There's a distinction to be made between knowing what the work might involve and thinking you'll have some choice and be allowed some limits versus being forced to do things you don't want to do. And I suspect this is what happened. Some years ago, I knew some girls in the massage trade who had been to Dubai and thought they would have some say in what was expected of them, but when the top guy comes by the spa to pick out who he will take with him, you don't have the option of saying 'no'. At that point it becomes slavery...

It is so unbelievablely illogical and irrational to even think that "losing all their wealth" is a possibility as a punishment.   That does not happen anywhere unless their entire assets were acquired as a result of the trafficking.
