And, so here's a couple of simply designs.

A toothpaste tube holder and a minimac case. All printed in a matter of minutes.

It is not too difficult to create something with a 3D printer, especially if someone else designed it already.

 

One problem with 3D prints is that many things can go (a little or a lot) wrong. And then it's troubleshooting time. On a high quality printer that troubleshooting is not too difficult. On cheap printers it can be a nightmare.

 

I like to compare it to learning to play pool. If a beginner learns on a good table with good cues then he will really learn what he does right and wrong. Because the equipment is not to blame.

If a beginner tries to learn on a bad table with a bad cue then there are many reasons why things don't work. It is difficult to impossible to learn under such conditions.

Yeah it took ages to set it up.

The table has to be 0.30mm from the nozzle, which means the table has to be 0.30mm from the table.

But, so far, cheap fun.

Filament temperature, filament diameter, table temperature, print speed...

And that is after downloading the plan.

Thank God I've got an 11 year old to explain...
