Eye Centre in Pattaya.

I have deteriorating eyesight, after tests in the U.K. the consultant couldn’t determine what was causing it, they just said come back in 1 year, I now can’t drive because of it.

I have since had a consultation at the Bangkok Pattaya Hospital, they did exactly the same tests as I had in the U.K., the consultant diagnosed glaucoma at the same time encouraging me to have my cataracts done. They  are not the cause of my poor eyesight, he admitted having them done wouldn’t make my vision any better just clearer.

On a side note the Hospital said I could have it done on my Health Insurance, obviously not as it’s a pre existing condition as advised by my insurance company when I asked them.

 

I would like a second opinion, is there a reputable Eye Clinic in Pattaya ?

I have searched the forums but the posts are not of recent.

This is a lesser known clinic on Klang, up and opposite from Big C Extra, might be evenings, the lady has been there for years, also works in a hospital.

I can't speak highly enough of the Bangkok Hospital Eye Center in Pattaya.

 

I had an eye scare with a bacteria in my eye and they cleared it for me, it took a lot of visits (every other day) and a lot of medicine. But it was worth it.

 

If you want a second opinion don't go to some clinic, but go to Rutnin Eye Hospital in Bangkok!

Yes a friend and she did a good job, solved the problem he was having, but Rutnin would be the belt and braces solution

On a similar note, about 5 years back I noticed my nighttime vision was getting bad, I researched it and found cataracts was the probable cause, I went to a Pattaya optician that had good reviews (my mistake) and got my vision checked and specifically asked if I have cataracts, he asked my age (then 55), he said no you're too young to have cataracts.  Less than a year later I went back to the US and went to a ophthalmologist, he said my cataracts were so bad he was he was amazed I could drive at night.  Soon after I had cataract surgery and it was like night & day.

I believe children can get them so that doctor was sadly lacking in his knowledge. I have seen a lacking of diagnostic ability here and more an inclination to do tests and treatments that are perhaps money spinners. A worrying situation.

Not a Doctor who advised him in Pattaya but an Optician and they are absolutely NO Doctors.

My opinion first Bangkok Hospital Eye Center in Pattaya, and if you have any doubts about the treatment go to Rutnin for a 2nd opinion!!

 

But if you live in Bangkok just go straight to Rutnin!

Can't help but to think there is a language problem,  I've encounter this since I use Bangkok Pattaya lots of time in conversation the Thai doctor will use a word or phrase that clouds the explanation. I would ask them questions use example and find out they really meant something else.  In this case

"better/clearer"   which I believe is the same?  If after the procedure your vision is clearer assumption  it is .better?

I have used both Bangkok Pattaya Hospital and Rutnin. Bangkok Pattaya is much easier and convenient (to me) and, once diagnosed at Rutnin, I go to B-P for monthly treatments.

Rutnin is likely better at diagnosis but it can be quite time consuming to say the least.

There is a reputable Eye Doctor that works in the Queen Sirikit Hospital in Sattahip

She specialises in Glaucoma

For your second opinion, this Doctor may be your fairly inexpensive solution.

When I had a serious eye prob, I flew down to BKK to see an eye professor at Siphhospital. Had loads of tests done and a confirmed problem result. The total cost for the tests and written explanation cost me 1600bht. The plus was, she spoke perfect English...????

Shouldn't be, because Bangkok Pattaya Hospital has translators on duty.

Yes I'm aware of it but actually how many go in for small stuff,  eye examined, dental,  even emergency is thinking translation.  The reality they speak English to by but for some one word can throw it off. 

In this case better,  clearer,  if thing are clearer I would assume it is better than before.?

I think most of the patients that go there, don't bother with the translation service. When I had my eye scare, my wife translates very good, but I still had the translation services on the first visit, because with something as important as your eyes you don't want anything to get lost in translation!! Subsequent visits (I think in total around 15) I didn't use them.

I had difficulty finding what was wrong with my blurred vision.  Ophthalmologists here in Pattaya -- many seen with no results.  A trip to Rutnin Eye Hospital in Bangkok did the trick IN ONE VISIT!

 

I strongly recommend Rutnin.
