Not only so they spell fear but, as you say, can be a fire hazard and threat to life. One evening we were startled by a smashing sound a very similar hole appeared in our bedroom window. It was from a high powered pellet airgun. The local bobby actually found the culprit and brought him to apologise (he also confiscated the airgun).
