This is the area from back of parking garage construction next to Lam-pho seafood market in NakluaIMG_20220608_144622.thumb.jpg.811a87ec4224d925ec8acc63f68f72ff.jpgIMG_20220608_144404.thumb.jpg.ba4ecb1d64636e06a91f8796b7a20b09.jpgIMG_20220608_143724.thumb.jpg.10b931b6ab8ac21a5268d1aa83702eda.jpg to the bay.  I guess destroying only half of the park was not enough for  them

This was the way it was in

front before. They just can't stop screwing this place up . The area in back was fine as was.

So they're not finished, correct?

I wonder if the locals in that area voted for the existing Party in the recent Mayoral election. Tourism wise they were supposed to be promoting Naklua as some sort of heritage area of the wider city and then they do this. One of the few areas of greenery in the entire city, shocking.

It is parking space for the coaches that will bring the thousands of Chinese tourists .... whenever that may be.

You are completely/in denial/missing the point here Hoss. Are you even aware of what this area was before. If not your not qualified to make comment. I don't have the time to school you on this.

Oh really?? So a very large tour bus is supposed to make a left turn from narrow street??. This is just a - 3rd world bs kickback project that laid waist to a previously very nice park environment.

Thanks it's obvious, unlike some here, you are aware of this mess/destruction they have made. That area in back was a nice green setting. And also there was nothing wrong with the platform they are tearing up, as shown. Yes it is shocking. Regarding the locals voting - don't know if there is any control at all. Like all the other sh*tshow projects around here "they " could care less about the heritage/environment. Just another mass/mess tourism of a project. They go on and on about quality tourism. Then can't stop ruining the environment. Well I hope they get what they deserve.

I was thinking this when I recently spent a night in town....

It is becoming a concrete jungle. One poster seemed to think what has happened to North Pattaya was progress, it is tower blocks and concrete.... I turned off 2nd onto Diana, sky is being obliterates by towers ....

It was 32 degC at 6pm, and 32 degC at midnight.... the concrete radiating heat and no green lungs in the whole town.

Pattaya City's favourite pastime, cutting down trees and creating sun-blasted wastelands from previously green, shady places.

The problem is, the park just became too popular, and drew the attention of the authorities (Ka-Ching!)

As I said before, they can build all the multi storey car parks they want, the narrow roads to it will remain gridlocked.

It's all about money with the Thais. Trees have little value to this culture, so sad.

What money besides the contract/kickbacks? And the parking fees ?

Its been like this since I first came to Thailand, but the scene always moves on, and its just a matter of finding the latest place to enjoy before the <deleted> that up as well

I went today and surprised how quiet the market was. They must be losing lots of customers but deserve it because they voted for the new garage thinking it will increase profits. Now they need to wait months while they redevelop. If the council cared more about business they would do a little at a time. I still do not understand how people will access the park as it just seems cars everywhere. Also not sure why this building is inviolate

That building is a garbage disposal areaIMG_20220617_101330.thumb.jpg.87435a27831c1b44a4904929e28f0e18.jpgIMG_20220617_101753.thumb.jpg.e2ab573b0587d0ec92c7e822841980a4.jpgDoesn't really look like any less people at market to me. Again that area in back was  grass and trees.  No reason whatsoever to tear it up and reconstruct . Outside of the usual contract/kickback ,like this whole parking garage for that matter - at the expense of the environment. Again some photos of the back area. Actually in this second photo is area adjacent to back parking lot and could have been converted to parking area. Also I don't know about any votes for this sh*tshow of a project.

They had a meeting about it with the market traders and they supported it. They could move garbage disposal somewhere else or at least consolidate it. The park is usually full of people eating seafood. Obviously not anymore.

Looks quiet to me. 6 pm on Wednesday night. I guess they would not throw out yesterday's seafood so if you buy from them how old would it be-2 days, 3 days, 4.

"Looks quiet at 6 pm," Well maybe that's because they close at 6pm. Maybe you best stick to frozen fish at the supermarket if you cannot recognize fish that are fresh.Screenshot_2022-06-22-22-18-34-18.thumb.jpg.50b73f632cd39088054cceb3e3e2ec8d.jpgexport1655911327870.jpg.fc82b519aa4e3490e49cffb564fe5b76.jpg
