The Thai Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) has reports that more than 35 million logins were recorded on its “Plookganja” application for cannabis and hemp cultivation registration between June 9th and 7am today (Monday), amid a cannabis boom following Thailand’s decriminalisation of the two plants last Thursday.

713,544 electronic certificates to grow cannabis have been issued after 735,932 registrations were made, while 22,388 certificates were also issued electronically for the growing of hemp.

Meanwhile, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thira Woratanarat, a medical science lecturer at Chulalongkorn University, has expressed serious concern over the health risks of uncontrolled use of cannabis, especially as an ingredient in food and drinks, which could lead to a host of problems, including accidents, violence and self-harm.

Originally this was said by Anutin to be used for medical use only...

now it seems it's going to be in every food you buy as an "attractive bonus ingredient"

how ridiculous are people?

Soft power works with the brainless.

35 million registrations multiplied by 1k baht inspection fee 3 months after registration looks like a healthy payday to me for the M squad?

Maybe they were already so stoned and could not remember they had accessed the platform  10 times already..

Except that there is a massive home market, always has been

Anutin relaxes Marijuana laws and thinks millions of foreigners are going to flood Thailand to get a taste and spend trillions of baht.

Problem is many foreign countries are already the same and have a home market, no need to come here and get stiffed by overpriced  "Marijuana cookies" and "sprinkles" on your fake Pizza.

"Accidents , violence and self harm"

Another example of the ignorance regarding cannabis,  pretty much straight out of reefer madness . Amazing how many self appointed "experts" crawl out from under their stones to spread their doom and gloom prophecies, not just about cannabis either, Covid had plenty of experts too and I don't remember any of them ever predicting anything positive, or any of their doom and gloom predictions coming true!

Some people seem to get a kick out of trying to scare people, Why is that ??

I will assume that more will register. We will certainly reach a number of 5m registrations. As if it wasn't enough already. Now, we will have an additional 5 million mega stoned potheads to deal with. What can possibly go wrong with that?

My guess is that just maybe somebody with a spark genius realised how ridiculous the whole prohibition thing was.

You left out the also used "Gateway drug" reference....

So the cops now have 35 million

people to extort in the future, when needed.

I would not trust all this as far as I could spit,

way to early days on this.

the whole thing is stupid and people fall in the trap again...

This will be a 2 step process.

1st step: registration

2nd step: tax assessment.

How many of the 35 M are Legit wanted to grow for the Med Scheme  (scam) .

Most will want to grow the Good stuff and make money and get wasted.

Around Chanthaburi rural the local advice is Not to register.

Many growers here are now open about growing modest amounts, none that we have met have registered.

it is mainly used in cooking as a flavour enhancer instead of MSG.

The girls like to make tea as well.

"mega stoned potheads to deal with"   Yoy have absolutely no idea what you are talking about do you .  People like you base all their incorrect fears on the misinformation spewed out by governments. Do you believe everything they tell you ? If so you really are beyond help

And who exactly is "we"  and how exactly do "we" intend to deal with 5 million mega stoned potheads.   A good strong talking to ? or maybe a damn good thrashing ? Or more likely a strongly worded post on here expressing your outrage  hahaha   Chill out pal you won't be "dealing" with anyone

Probably his best idea.

"Did you hear what Prayut did today? who cares roll me another"

It has begun:

Four admitted to hospital, one dies after using cannabis following decriminalisation

The governor received a report today (Tuesday) from the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration’s (BMA) Medical Services Department that a 17-year-old and a 25-year-old have been admitted to city-run hospitals for treatment of heart palpitations after consuming cannabis. A 16-year-old was admitted to intensive care, allegedly following a cannabis overdose. Additionally, a 51-year-old man suffered chest pains after using cannabis and later died of heart failure.

Very easy to get even before weed was decriminalized.

We, means the people that stay and live in Thailand. Though you could get that much. Sorry, as that was not the case. Neither did I mean that we all will do it, as some do not come in contact with things at all. However, we have dealt with drunk people, yaba users and now another 5 million pot heads. But, never mind. You do not need to understand what it´s going to do to the Thai community.

So, I have no idea. So be it then. You seem to have all the knowledge anyway. Been on the pot long time?

The only thing that has started is the inevitable media frenzy, don't you think that its strange that this never happened before it was legalised
