Thai media continued to find every angle imaginable in the ongoing furor surrounding the removal of marijuana from the Class 5 narcotics list last Thursday.

Now Thai Rath reported on a "warning post" online about a woman who said she had an allergic reaction to a ganja leaf she found in her Tom Jeut Mara - a kind of boiled soup with bitter gourd.

She only found out after she had ordered it that it contained a marijuana leaf. But she went ahead and ate it and claimed she had a severe reaction.

The shop has apologized and given her her money back.

The story started to play out on Facebook in a post by Sirijan Teerawan who advised traders that not everyone can tolerate ganja in their food.

She said she ate the dish in the evening and was feeling terrible in the night.

She claimed she had a headache, dry throat, throat swelling, great thirst, difficulty swallowing, tiredness and stomach pains. She realised this was an allergic reaction.

She treated herself with paracetamol and mineral salts. She claimed she was "tortured for three days".

She was advising all her friends to watch out and check before they eat.

She posted a picture of the leaf and her going to get treatment at Phanat Nikhom Hospital.

The media caught up with the 27 year old at her home; she who showed all the evidence associated with her claims.

She said the trader who sold her the item was in touch and had refunded the 280 baht she paid.

She was happy at that and the concern showed by the trader for her well-being.

Wow, is all one can say if true.  Wonder what the leaf may have been washed in or the chemicals used to grow the plant in question.

I can concur, a Thai person i know, a seller of noddles add leaves of marijuana that now he grows to his meatballs soup..

It is not the leaves that should be used, who knows what pesticides they used during cultivation, in reality the Thais know how to make good beef noodle soup ..........LOL

I've been around long enough to consider marijuana tea or marijuana as a spice don't taste that good.

It seems that there is plenty of medical evidence that one can be allergic to marijuana. In fact, name any food substance and there'll be someone out there who's allergic to it.

What a load of BS

You meant a load of Tosh, excrement, or feces right?  Sums it up to me.  Folks have been cooking with leaves here forever.  It is more than likely the pesticides/chemicals used on the leaves to keep bugs off of the plants as they grew and from inside the leave from the products used in the soil that are taken up by the inspiration of water into the leaves from the stems.

I would say unlikely.

What else did she,  eat, drink and touch that day.

But the one ganja leaf did it. Nah

True, or someone offered her an amount of baht to cause some contention. I think we will see a lot of this sort of thing now. Scammers

Nope, not out to get me. More likely just to try and stir up trouble.

Come on stop being a big Wagga.

could be any number of legitimate reasons she felt bad.

All may have nothing to do with ganja

Twenty-odd years ago, when I first started visiting Cambodia, marijuana was readily available, indeed some watering holes kept a bowl of it on the bar so that customers could help themselves, it was a lot cheaper than peanuts. I tried the happy pizzas back then that actually did have leaves on them (nowadays it's just a name that's used, there's no weed in them) and found that all I got from the marijuana was a restless night's sleep and bad dreams. I tried it in both Koh Kong and Pnom Penh and, after having the same reaction in both places, I decided that in future I'd be better off eating unhappy pizzas, lol.

so she happy eat all the soup, payed and went home.

After 3 days she claims she had the very leaf of ganja she had already eaten, all well preserved in a jar.

Paying 280b for a bowl of soup is also somehow suspicious, only if that was some very posh restaurant (not likely in the city this accident happen).

I think she made false claims, the source of her allergy well might be something else. Seafood, nuts more likely.

What was the reaction was it Hot Flushes and how the hell would she know that it was the leaf that was to blame the leaf has very little energy it’s the bud that does the trick maybe she was after 5 minutes of fame and a free meal which she got in the end by the way I don’t participate in any forms of drugs accept for viagra ????

That’s it I’m unsubscribing from this misinformation network. I buy it all the time there are no issues with it at all you all are literally the only ones trying to create one lol. Btw just received my package of 22% THC OG KUSH from one of the legal shops actually in the mail now. They have totally removed the restrictions and I see certain people don’t like that lol.

What might a Doctor's diagnosis come up with?

Food poisoning; as in, nothing to do with the leaf!
