Daily News Thai Caption:  Don't use it in school

Daily News reported that officials from the Khon Kaen health department and environmentalists went to a school to ensure they were not putting weed in the kid's lunch and puddings.

It happened at the Tessaban Suan Sanuk school in downtown Khon Kaen, NE Thailand and was headed by the mayor Theerasak Theekhayuphan.

Weed is not allowed on school campuses despite being legalized elsewhere a couple of weeks ago and being put in food in the malls and markets of Thailand.

New methods are needed to test food, said the media, in the light of the legalization.

Theerasak said food suppliers need to be doubly sure about what is going into their products for schools.

He asked for the cooperation of food sellers near school gates to ensure that children don't consume ganja by asking them to inform schools if they put it in their food.

  • Yup.  I am sure everyone is just wanting to take their pot and share with 10,000 students.      From the time I was little, no one ever came around with van and offered me candy to get in.

  • What's with this stupid obsession with marijuana in food.

  • Yea like people would intentionally do that, just more stupid news.   Nobody ever thought its a good idea to give kid pot, or to give anyone pot without them knowing (both reprehensible IMHO

From the time I was little, no one ever came around with van and offered me candy to get in.  Any drugs I got offered later came with a price tag attached.

I can't wait for them to come up with a special branch, the Pot Police.

These are just stories to act like pot is a huge danger by people who know nothing or want their moment in the spotlights.

What's with this stupid obsession with marijuana in food.

I dread to think how school meals are managed and controlled in terms of health and safety.......is there any chance only rigorously approved suppliers are issued contracts?

Nevermind, it's only impotent strangle weed, the prices they are charging for good weed will keep it out of reach of non users.

If this is found to be true here at this school or anywhere the public is given food or drink that contains marijuana without their knowledge, those responsible should be put in jail for a long, long time.

Please enlighten a person who has obviously led a sheltered life (73) why would a vendor outside a school put Ganja in there food with the added associated exspense?

There is a chance but I think  brown envelopes stand more chance.

It's not true. Trust me.

That's fine, but did they check to see if there is any soap in the children bathrooms while they were there?

Thai kids don't need ganja to keep them pacified. Their lessons already achieve that.

I wonder who's going to put weed into some school cafeteria's lunch?

Nobody.

It's the usual suspects stirring up baloney.

School lunches could use some more practical vegetables though.  According to our kids its rather bland.

Might stop a lot of hyperactivity and unruly behaviour! ????

(I'm joking - I'll get my coat!)

Exactly like spiking drinks - either with "date rape" drugs, or even more alcohol.

I was at a 21st party many years ago (before I had even heard of "pot") and I was drinking beer. As soon as my back was turned people were lacing my beer with spirits. I ended up sick for days and my doc reckoned I had had alcoholic poisoning - not funny at all. ????

this is another article of the anti-weed-lobby!

similar as the man cut of his prenis!

such complete nonsense!

who thinks of checking  primary schools etc for not put ganja in food or pudding: over-careful and unneccessairy!

but if they want to do it right, then check also all the stalls & sellers of junkfood, like look-chin and other fried stuff, and all the sweet stuff full with taste-enhancers, artificial coloring etc etc.

their worries are very selective...

Where has common sense gone?.........for a puff?? lol!

Somebody is putting a lot of energy and money into trying to scare the dumb, ignorant and the 'IdontwannabeinformedIalreadyknow' crew.  Never read so much nonsense before.

Recreational use of cannabis would be best if it is decriminalised or even legalised

Medical marijuana is largely quackery - yet the government has gone headlong into this - it shows they haven't researched the topic properly. However Trying to make this plant illegal is again pointless.

but

the one thing that is sure is that the attempts by the Thai authorities to decriminalise this are total chaos.

There IS a dangerous substance that schools promote - sugar. EVERY school I've worked at came to a screeching halt every time the Milo truck visited, handing out free samples of chocolate milk. Get them hooked at a young age then you'll have obese, diabetic customers for life.

IMHO, quite rightly so.

Do I sense a chink in the end of the beginning for marijuana???

@sambum we've all used that excuse for being a lightweight

Why is it that Thais over-react to everything. Nothing here is ever done in moderation. They drive at max speed regardless of the conditions, they play music at max+ volume to distort the speakers, they hunt in packs and kick their prey in the head numerous times when they're helpless on the ground etc.

Now, every headline is about a drug that many countries in the world have been using, legally or not, for many decades. Already, a recent report and completely without foundation of kids being poisoned by it, and within days we'll have 'my weed was too strong' added to brake failure/micro-sleep/the road was too wet/an elephant crossed in front of me etc at road accidents.

how to get a day out of the office and let the mia noi see in print what a hero he is would be my guess

Somehow I cannot imagine the 20 baht allocated for each school meal would cover the addition of marijuana.

This country just gets sillier.

What we're seeing is just a manifestation of internecine political gaming.

It seems to me half the government was asleep and Anutin sneaked one past them for political gain in his canny bid for Prayuts' job.

Now his opponents  must apply a reactionary political response in whatever inane way they can. This is all political football and ganga is the ball.

Just relax. All of this nonsense will implode soon. It is much too late to stuff this elephant back into the bag, to mix a metaphor.

THC-potent pot is here to stay. There is a simply too much popular support and profits to be made. Regardless of how the laws are 'modified' it will be readily available either under or over the counter just like everything else in the Kingdom.
