Khao San: Deathly quiet in the afternoon, busy in the evening - no one has applied for street permission to sell marijuana

IMO, quite rightly so! It is no longer mandatory to wear face masks (as here in Cambodia) - it is personal choice and "up to you". There are going to be many more "mask-less" tourists pouring into Thailand over the coming months!

They reported that most foreign tourists were not wearing masks even though Thai visitors to the tourist street and vendors were wearing face coverings to protect themselves from Covid-19.

For once Thais have more common sense than faangs.

So far 238 stalls have applied for licences to sell goods in the street. But not a single person has applied to the local authority to set up a stall selling marijuana or hemp products.

He said that applications to sell marijuana would be considered but that in his personal opinion it was not an appropriate place to sell weed

Medicinal purposes only... not sprinkled on your noodles... makes perfect sense.

YouTube certainly paints a different picture than the above 'reports'.  And KSR has always been dead in the morning & afternoon.

Plenty of folks wearing and not wearing masks, before and after July 1st.

From the OP... A few Thai vendors had them under their chins.

I notice about half that do wear them, wear them improperly, many going with the chin diaper look.  Sort of like riding a MB, with you helmet in the basket.????

On Topic .. since most are going to KSR to eat & drink, or stroll around while doing so, I certainly wouldn't expect to see many visitors masked up.

Are there still people that think wearing a mask in that environment, without proper goggles would actually do something ????

It's the thought that counts.
