Foreign Secretary Liz Truss has officially joined the race for the Tory leadership, with Home Secretary Priti Patel potentially set to announce her candidacy.

A surprise entry has also been made by Foreign Office minister Rehman Chishti, meaning 11 Conservatives are now fighting to replace Boris Johnson as prime minister.

She frequently embarrasses herself by revealing a total lack of knowledge on any subject she happens to be pontificating on

Of course, she does, is it called the Dianne Abbott syndrome......????

Liz Truss left the G20 foreign ministers' meeting in Indonesia early to return to the UK.

No point in letting duty and representing the country get in the way of personal ambition.

Being the right person for the top job is more important for the country than having a chat with counterparts over tea & biscuits.

But thanks for the lefty insight....????

You don’t understand-quelle surprise

Why dont you explain what you mean then , because your post doesnt make much sense

“Feeding at the public trough” is using government funds to enrich oneself.

Feeding at the public trough refers to activities which are, strictly speaking, legal, but which are generally considered to be morally reprehensible. Someone who feeds at the public trough is fattening himself at the expense of the public.

All of which fits the Government of the past twelve years, and all candidates have been members of that Government.

That said, I think ‘internecine knife fight’ better describes the Tory leader selection process.

And before the resident pedants take umbrage, no, nobody is actually wielding a ‘knife’, though backs are being stabbed.

Although we are talking about the current people who are interested in the job of Prime minister , rather than the actions of previous PM's

Although no one has actually taken that literally .

Nobody has made the suggestion that real knives were involved .

You are making a point about a fictitious  occurrence that you have made up

Boris Johnson actually had quite centralists policies , its quite likely that the new Conservative leader will be more to the Right .

Be careful what you wish for

A proper Conservative with a capital ‘C’ would be more than welcome.
Watch the seething and frothing at the mouth posts on here then.
