snoop1130
PHNOM PENH, July 11 (TNA) – The Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (DES) and the Police Cyber Task Force (PCT) asked Cambodian authorities to arrest 74 suspects from four big call scam gangs and they will be repatriated for prosecution in Thailand. The arrests had happened before DES Minister Chaiwut Thanakamanusorn and deputy national police chief Pol Gen Damrongsak Kittipraphat visited Phnaom Penh today for the signing of a Thai-Cambodian memorandum of understanding on the suppression of call scams and cybercrime with the Cambodian government. aussienam
Great news! When most call scammers get away with ruining the lives of millions of people worldwide, it is really good to see a sting on one of these many dodgy call centres and arrest these lowlife pieces of garbage. Unfortunately, most of these call centres are located in places around the world where they often operate with impunity, due to corrupt paid-off officials, little to no law enforcement, lack of resources, jurisdiction issues. Also, individual crimes often do not meet financial thresholds to initiate investigations by Federal police forces, so countless victims' crimes are never investigated. Lots of great videos on YouTube of hackers accessing the scammers call centres and identifying their locations and even identities of the criminals. These call centres range from small operations to whole floors in office complexes being run by very wealthy criminals. I have a family member who suffered financial losses (Microsoft scam) after being scammed. Often the target market are the elderly and those not tech savvy. Low life scum. Hope they get prison terms. I am surprised that some of these call centres have not been targeted and bombed yet.
IamNoone88
There's a special place in hell for these rampant scammers. I do get some satisfaction though from cursing them over the phone when they call. I hope it ruins their day.
Lee4Life
When we are back in the States we get scam calls from people with Indian accents, or from digitally produced voices to disguise their accents. At least here the Thai authorities seem to be able to do something about it. Back home citizens voted in a "do not call registry" that was supposed to stop scam calls and sales calls, but the telemarketing corporations took it to court and it was ruled to be "unconstitutional". (freedom of speech!)

A lot of the bars on lower to mid Sukhumvit in Bangkok were funded by money stolen from British and Aussie pensioners.
