“Rules-based International Order” is a term that we have heard constantly in interviews with the US secretary of state Anthony Blinken over the past year. The reason the US is raising this more often now, Blinken said, is because the US sees it as being challenged, whether it’s by Russia’s aggression in Ukraine or China’s increasing aggression in this region and repression at home.

 

The “order” to which the US refers, Blinken explains, is a set of basic rules about how countries relate to one another, with respect for sovereignty, independence, territorial integrity, human rights, with the universal declaration of human rights as its foundation.

 

Not too long ago, Blinken said that China is the only country in the world to have the means, economically, militarily and in terms of influence, to challenge this order. He told Thai PBS World that it is still the case.

Funny to see the US touring Asia to defend rules they kept violating on a regular basis since the 90's. Blinken is such an arrogant clown. Hopefully America will get rid of that lousy Biden administration soon. Politics is such a pile of ????...

A 'international laws based international order' means that your country follows UN dictate and is the preferred method of Russia and China and their aligned BRICS nations.

These two opposed groups literally hate each other as they see only that their interests supersedes the rest of the world.

Considering that to quote Tears For Fears that "Everybody Wants To Rule The World", the big players wants everyone else to support their interests.
By the way - there are no Good Guys wearing White Hats.  There are only greedy oligarchs, control-freaks, and billionaires who want their own interests in front of the rest of the countries in the world as well as their populations.  If that means killing a few million people?  So be it.  A few billion - why not.  At the end of the day it's extreme austerity for the commoners and the transfer of extreme wealth to the elite.

I personally feel that these opposing side will end up starting a nuclear conflagration before 2030 with an enraged and fully propagandized public egging on the mutually assured destruction (MAD) - I lived though the Cuban Missile Crisis.  Who starts the 'first strike will be irrelevant.  The media blame game will be vaporized in an EMP flash along with most of the earth's population and infrastructure.   A small handful of Billionaire elites and their political and military henchmen will believe they can weather out the destruction in bunkers. Just hope the Eloi aren't waiting you ya'll exit your Morlock hidey-holes.

The American "rules based order" is set of principles and rules designed to keep the vast majority of the world forever at the bottom of the food chain. The Chinese villains are attempting to break these rules because they don't want to manufacture cheap t-shirts and thongs forever.

There are probably some places you would be safe, but Thailand won't be one of them.

I'd be more interested to know which countries - if any - would come to Thailand's aid if they got invaded. If the countries surrounding Thailand invaded, none of the outside world would really give a hoot and probably say 'whatever'

Do they have any treaties or alliances to fall back on? I bet China would come to help providing they were not the antagonists. 

Ukraine is not getting the support I would have expected prior, is that indicative of how countries really would react?

The one thing I never see from the outhouse politicians on here is what they would do to ensure world peace. Russia and China would be good places to start. What would you do about the Russian invasion of Ukraine, let Russia flatten and conquer the country and then go on to take other countries or try to help Ukraine to defend itself?
Same with China, let them take Taiwan and most of the South China Sea or resist it and help countries in the area to do so.

Diplomacy doesn't work with power mad egomaniacs, just refer back to recent crazies, Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, Mao to name but a few. What would you have done to stop them? Blame the US and its allies as usual, I expect.

But Thailand's armed forces must be the best equipped in the world; they have more generals with lots of medals to deter all surrounding countries from attacking.

I believe the correct technical terms is the "rules for thee but not for me" international order.
