Gastroscopic Test

Recommended Posts

My stomach has been painful for about 1 month. Bloating, irregular bowel movements, wind and general discomfort.

I thought I should go and let the Dr have a look in there with a camera.

I live in the Kalasin area.

Can someone recommend a place to go for the test? Preferably not a private hospital. Thanks.

As suggested above, I'd go to Kalasin Hosp, and do one of the Check Up programs.  Make sure it includes a full abdominal ultrasound.

Can probably just walk in, around 0800 hrs register and tell them what you want.  Don't eat anything after 1800 hrs the night before.  And no morning coffee, unless you want high BP.  You'll need to drink some water after arriving, as full bladder is preferred for ultrasound.

Thanks. I am closer to Kuchinari hospital so I'll just go in there tomorrow morning.

I would think first blood, urine and stool tests.

Possibly cancer markers.

After that more invasive tests. Instead of gastroscopy should be tried ultrasound, that one is some 1800b, many times cheaper, than gastro.

Try some anti-parasitic medicines, whatever is available at pharmacy

At which hospital exactly the price of the abdominal ultrasound is 1800b? Thank you

at Ratchaphiphat Hospital on Phuthamonton sai 3 in Bangkok (thonburi side).

It's listed in their general health check up brochure and on an advertising screen, but doctor explained that there is a long waiting list and refused me that check up. That price is their VIP clinic, which has fast laboratory results within 1-2h and short waiting line for doctors.

So I went to Kanchanapisek hospital in Salaya (just on the west border of Bangkok) and did it with just 3 days waiting time for 2700b. They find slot for me at 18:30 and procedure lasted brief 15 minutes. Radiologist was english speaking and told me results which happen to be ok.

They do as well here 3 basic cancer markers and ekg for total 1300b. That is secondary care hospital and they charge more for their services, but on an upside there are not that many patients as in primary care, where patients are overflowing.

I would think that all governmental hospital would charge max 1800b - even in vip clinic

Initally what happened is my aquaponics fish filter blew back and I ingested a mouth full of fish poop.

Took antibiotics for 2 weeks and Miracid for 2 weeks as stomach burning.

So 1 month later and still not settled down.

check for parasites.

You can also check with good vet your fish what parasites they might have and those you might have in your intestine. Treat them to prevent catching bugs from them in the future.

Get from pharmacy several pills of mebendazole 500mg, albendazole 400mg, niclosamide, praziquantel, ivermectin, take each of them even daily every few h and for several days. Stop, if too strong herx reaction. Drink plenty of water and rather light food. Those medicines work better if taken with any fat, some 20ml olive oil.

For lamblia there is tinidazol and metronidazol, but do first check up stool, because those 2 medicines suppose to be taken in larger doses and for longer, and they do have side effects. So better not self-prescribe if not sure. Probably your antibiotics were one of them.

Get also natural youghurt to replenish your good gut flora. Greek youghurt or cheaper yolida one. Eat several times per day

Before deciding yourself that you need a gastroscopy, consult a good GI specialist. Depending on the symptoms, even if endoscopy is indicated, it might be a colonoscopy rather than gastroscopy. Or possibly neither.

In Kalasin itself the only possibility would be the provincial hospital but not certain  you can find a GI specialist there.

the closest source if sure expertise is at Sringagrind (KKU) Hospital   in Khon Kaen.  Suggest you go through the "after hours" clinic and consult:

Assoc.Prof.Dr. Phisan Mairiang (UK trained)
